Okay we have had our basset hound Ellie since she was 2 days old. She was abandoned by her mother so we bottle fed her till she was old enough to eat puppy food. about a month ago she got was is called cherry eye. It is when the third eye lid bulges out of the eye and we had to have it surgically fixed. Ever since her surgery she won't stop whining. i know she isn't hurting or in pain or anything because its been over 2 weeks since it was done. She has always kinda whined but it is out of control now. We cant sleep we cant eat we cant sit and watch Tv we cant do anything because her whining is so loud and heart aching. I don't know what to do anymore. we have tried everything. We take her on 2 walks a day. we play with her before she goes to bed. we take the water away at 7pm so she doesn't have to potty. but it seem like every time she cant see us she whines and whines and whines PLEASE HELP! she is driving us NUTS

Call your vet and ask him if she should be hurting still. Or ask him if he knows why shes whining.

Could she be in heat? Check with the vet to see if he has any opinions. They are a very vocal breed LOL.

The dog is whining because you allowed it to until now. Ignore the whining, your dog must be EXTREMELY bonded to you since you raised it literally from birth and can grow up to have problems such as separtation anxiety or become very destructive. I would teach the dog that even though you are leaving you'll always come back to love her. Have times where you leave for a minute but come back and gradually increase the time you are gone, emphasis on gradual! Also leave a bone or something to distract the dog when you are gone.
