My 2006 ford Explorer Truck-tune up question?

I have a 2006 ford Explorer limited with 96000 miles. You can see by doing the math we drive the car alot. Ford says I need to do a complete tune up. I change the oil, air filer, and gas filter often. I think the only thing I really need is just to change the plugs. My friend says their are no wires (he works for Ford parts). Ford says I need a differential service and fluid change. My friend says it is just a bull...is that true? Also how often should I do a coolant flush? thanks for the answer in advance.

well around 100k i had transmision flushed for about 90 bucks, i would recomend that cause when they do tear up it could cost over 2 thousand dollars, changing axle fluid would be okay, if u dog it out and spin the tires and take it offroading it is probably needed. spark plugs are usually needed every 10 thousand miles are so but now days they are just made so much better and last a very long time. i have 120k miles on mine and never changed them. if your raditior is dirty then you could flush your raditior. so get tranny flushed, if raditior is dirty have it flushed, and if your gas mileage gets worse or you hear it not sounding right, change spark plugs.

You didn't mention whether or not you bought it new but if you did then you was given an Owner's Manual and a Scheduled Maintenance Guide. You can verify what the service manager is telling you by checking the maintenance schedule. But a good service manager is also a service adviser and you can trust his recommendations if you are advised on maintenance. Maintenance is NOT bull, and certainly not differential service, transmission service and coolant system service, which can make the difference between troublefree operation and costly repairs and the difference between a vehicle that lasts 300000 miles and one that is not worth the cost of repairs at 150000.

what dealer recomends and what it really needs always going to be different since they want money and truth is any shop could do it and your owner manual shoul dtel you when any needs to be done
