My 2005 Saab 93 wont make calls via Bluetooth - Any ideas?

I have managed to pair two phones (iPhone and Blackberry Curve) with the car and transfer my contacts too but when I select a contact it doesn't give the option to call. When I just select Phone from the main menu it says Insert SIM. Can I make calls via bluetooth or do I need a SIM car too??
