My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee is doing something weird.?

When I turn the key over, nothing happens. Then when I turn it back, the gauge start jumping like crazy. There's no electrical power when it does this. A couple minutes later, I'll turn it over again and it will start just fine. Alternator?
 
dirty battery cables first and easy to jump start it and drive to any shop or parts store ask them to check it most places free to check charging system
