My 2002 Yamaha R6 died on me while riding! What's wrong?

I bought a 2002 Yamaha R6 with 25,000 miles on it yesterday, and drove it from Atlanta to Birmingham with no issues at all, aside from needing the carburetor adjusted. Then, while I was riding it yesterday night, the battery went dead. All my electronics went dead, everything just stopped working. I stopped a friendly passer-by and they hooked jumper cables up to my battery and let it charge. I assumed it was a faulty alternator, so after 10 minutes plugged up to the car, I was able to get back home.

This morning, I went to try and start the bike and it cranked right up, no problems. So i decide to take it for a ride for about an hour. I take it by autozone to have them check the alternator, and they said it was sending power to the battery, but my CCA on the battery were bad (73 cold cranking amps) and it needed to be replaced. Then I'm traveling down the road, and the same thing happens. All my electronics go dead and the bike winds down to a halt, nothing working. I have my girlfriend come and try to jump me off, but this time I can't even get the bike to turn on while it's hooked up to the car. WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY BIKE?? Do I just need a new battery or do I have a much larger electrical issue? The alternator appears to be working. Could the solenoid be bad? Opinions please.
