my 2002 yamaha grizzly 660 has to much compression to turn over.?

If i take out the plug it will turn over fine. with the plug in wil turn over a little bit but then stop can force it to turn over.
I just traded for it it started a couple of times. but you have to keep hitting the starter until it finally goes
Even if you try to pull start it does the same thing.
I checked all that the bat good starter good.
