So my mom bought this 2002 intrepid for me. I start to drive it and a day later, the check engin light comes on. A day after that it starts to stall and backfire on me. Every morning when i go out to my car and start it, i turn out of my neighborhood and i keep pushing the pedal down and gettting nothing untill it backfires and i lurch forwards. This is happenening more frequently. It is to the point where i have the slam the gas after every stop. My stepfather replaced all the oxygen censors and my dad replaced all the spark plugs and oil and my moms mechanic put a new gas cap on it. It is still backfireing worse than shit. so my real questions are:

1. Will this backfireing fuck my car?
2. What is wrong with it?
3. Will it be an expensive fix?
4. Will it be worth it?
5. Wana buy it just kidding i wouldnt either
We have had the computer scanned and its not throwing up any codes at all.

first thing you need to have done is have the computer scanned, on the back firing could be problem with the timing and yes it can cause problems from it,one main question ,was it doing this when you bought it or acting up a little then, if no then check the fuel supply and the fire to it,you need to stop spending money on it until you get it scanned though, your going to get a lot of money invested in parts that may not help the problem your having right now with it,the scan will help you more than anything on it ,good luck with it.EDIT, try replacing the throttle position sensor and see what happens, most of the time when those start to go bad they wont even throw a trouble code on the computer and that will cause it to back fire real bad like that, good luck.
