My 2000 jeep cherokee will not turn over when cranked. What. Could it be?

Instead of banging the starter like I usually do one day I decided to just wait a minute and it cranked right up. I replaced the starter twice but since it cranked that day without having to bang on the starter I'm thinking its something else. This happens intermittently. What could it be? Battery tested ok.

check for loose or corroded wires at the starter and battery and the body ground.

sounds like you have an electrical problem that just comes and goes maybe a bad or loose connection somewhere.
