My 2000 Ford Taurus is struggling to go over 30-35 mph, what could be doing this?

It's not stalling, it just seems to be struggling. When idling and them going slowly after a light or stop, it's fine. But if I go to accelerate over about 30, it will start struggling, like the car is jerking to go. But once I finally get it over the 30-35 mph, it is fine. What could be causing this? I did notice a few times in the past couple months it won't start on the first, but I assume that's a totally different problem with most likely needing a new starter.

Any suggestions, or thoughts please. I need an estimation of what I'm going to be dealing with when going to the shop.
