my 1998 ford expedition is shaking when i press the gas?

when i try to accelerate my 1998 ford expedition is like does not want to go fast and i checked all the gages and the check engine light blinks about 5 to 6 times it wont turn of on me but i was thinking it could be the fuel filter
 
when the CEL blinkig ...means engine missfire...listen to "Mike D" have it scanned then ck that cylinder for spark. and injector pulse. Most likely a coil . if " coil on plug" very easy diagnose with a good scan tool!
 
sounds like an electrical misfire. the fuel filter wouldn't pick up the trouble code. Check your ignition coil, distributor cap, and rotor. My next guess would be spark plugs or wires
