I HAVE A 97 FORD TRANSIT(yes i no its old but there great vans)AND WHEN I GO TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF NOTHING HAPPENS.IT STARTS WITH DA KEY GRAND.I GOT IT FIXED BEFORE BUT ONLY LASTED A FEW WKS.IS THERE ANYONE HAD THE SAME PROMBLEM AS ME AS I THINK IT A COMMON THING WITH DA OLDER TRANSITS.I HAVE BEING TOLD IT COULD BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH POWER JUMPIN FROM 1 WIRE 2 ANOTHER.THANKS

two best checks = ignition switch faulty. second=fuel cut off solenoid faulty.
easiest and cheapest to change is fuel idle cutoff solenoid. second ( expensive and hared) ignition switch change. meanwhile simply idle engine and stall it! don't do this too often as it wil damage the clutch.

Diesel?
Does the ignition switch off when you turn the key back & remove it (ie, no wipers, indicators, etc. work)?

If so, then the stop solenoid on the diesel pump has failed - 5 minute fix.
