I took it by a mechanic he said it might be a bad bering,he checked the fluid it was good.I can shift but I have to move it around in neutral a little to get it to shift into 1st from then on it's ok.

Does this sound like a bad bering?

Are there any tricks in the way I shift that I could use to lessen wear and tear?I imagine taking the highway more often would be one?

It's a pretty worn out car but still runs great, but has a smashed in door so I think I'm going to drive it till it falls apart figuring it's only worth about a $1000.Maybe I'll get lucky and get another 100000 out of it.
