My 1995 Ford Mustang has a sqeaky steering wheel. How do I fix it?

OK, the power steering fluid level is good. The power steering pump is good. A couple of months ago (about three), I had this problem and I got a whole new rack and pinion (about $500). That fixed it, but then about two weeks ago it started squeaking again. So, I took it back to the same people (Ford Dealership) and he said that my tie-rod ends needed greased, but they are sealed and don't have the tool. (little needle thingy). So I took it to walmart, they said they greased it with the needle and that wasn't the problem.. He said I need my upper bushings replaced. He said they had to be replaced which would cost around $500 because if you try to fix it with a spray it will go bad again when it rains...Now this squeak is getting pretty pricy..But it sounds horrrible and i really want it gone. Then I asked a guy on a forum and he said the walmart guy was totally wrong and that It's probably my front sway bar end links. Gah. I just want it gone. Any help with what it could be?
 
yoiu say squeaky steering wheel, then name just about every part in the front steering/suspension

so, where is it exactly? if it is in the steering wheel, it could be the cruise control and horn contacts

otherwise, no one really knows, do they
 
so it only squeeks when turning the wheel? how about turning the wheel while the car is not moving? it like a metal-on-metal squeek?


well u may have blown a ton of money over nothin - my Camry does this, due to plastic rollers on either side of the steering shaft - its what give the steering its 'friction feel' - the wheels are pushing up against the steering shaft, where it goes down into the dash, often right above the brake pedal at the firewall, or sometimes the rollers are right in the dash right under the instrument cluster.


now, double check that that car even HAS the little plastic wheel/rollers. I would think they all do

needs some lube grease squirted in there. over time the grease gets pushed aside. on my car the plastic little wheels are white. a good shop will do the easy stuff first.



i owned a 1995 Mustang Cobra, and actually replaced the steering rack assembly myself. but i never had this issue, so i never looked for the rollers
