it starts and starts and once in awhile will not start. i will have started if several times and then will not start. it has gas, it turns over, but will not start. if i let it sit for an hour or so and sometimes i have to leave it overnite, it will start. when i get it to my mechanic it starts again, and he cannot look for a problem when it does not present itself.

any ideas, thoughts or suggestions how i might pin the problem down?
thanks chris.

the battery is new and cranks the engine just fine. the starter has been replaced.

and if its cranking, what fuse?

You need to check a few things. Don't just go out and buy some random parts that may help. Know for sure.
Check:
1. The Alternator
2. The Ignition
3. The Battery
4. The starter motor (if the starter motor is bad you car won't turn over at all; you will just hear a clicking sound)

Hope that helped

Could be a lot of things.

Ignition - where the key goes into and turns the mechanism to start the engine.

Fuse - self-explanitory.

Battery - gotta check that out!

Alternator - the car's generator for energy.

The car can aso be too cold for some reason. Is it snowing or really cold there? Did you try giving it some gas while igniting it?
