My 1993 Mazda B2200's A/C isn't working. I hooked up a retrofit R134a kit to it,

and the pressure was nothing.? When I began to charge the A/C with the R134a through the low-pressure hose, the pressure gauge was fine, then suddenly shot up to the max (in the red warning area). The R134 then began to leak out of the high pressure nozzle. I quickly closed the can and removed it, and the R134 all sprayed out of the high pressure nozzle. I'm pretty sure I got the lines right (everything I've read says the low pressure line is the larger one, and attempted to charge the system through that one). Is it possible that I got them wrong? Would that cause the pressure to suddenly shoot up and then leak out of the other nozzle? Or is the leaking nozzle just damaged and thus leaking? If so, why the sudden jump in pressure? Please cite sources/websites if possible, and thanks.

were you charging it with the ac on max while the car was running? and also i woud have put some teflon tape on the r134 retrofit peice that goes on the shrader type valve, and you could of over pressurized it and blew it apart
