i know that dirt bikes or anything doesn't like to start in the cold, but i need to run it to keep everything flowing right. i had it running for like 20 seconds, but smoked a lot and shut off when i gave it gas and tried to take off. i just got it back from the shop where the timing was reset and the valves were ajusted. about a month or so ago i changed the oil in it while i had the engine off the bike when i was repainting the frame and everything. now it has awesome compression after the valves were ajusted, but it is like between 25 and 30 degrees out. I need some advice on how to start it? the dirt bike doesn't like to be choked fully, so i only choke it half way. Could i warm the engine up by a heater in the garage or placing a blanket on it?

try spraying a few sprays of ether,it works best for cold starts.also, you might want to adjust your carb, from the sound of it sounds like you might have it a little bit on the rich side.

best of luck
