my 1985 cadillac doesnt shift properly what is wrong?

i have an 85 fleetwood rearwheel drive4.1L and when its cold it works fine but after its hot it wont downshift when i slow down and when i takeoff again it seems to stay in 2nd or 3rd until i floor it then it goes fine at 50-60mph what could be wrong with it the car has 114,000 miles.
