My ford has been in our family ever since it was made but my Dad and I put a new engine and transmission in about 6 years ago. We had it in storage until here recently my Dad wanted me to have it for nostalgia. I don't drive her alot but i do start her up and let her run for a little while. I needed to go to the local store to grab some stuff and I started her up and she started dying so i pressed on the gas she started running on her own after that but then popped out of the muffler and it sounded like a shotgun? I put gas cleaner in and have bought a fuel pump and had the oil changed. I also bought new spark plugs. Is it the carburetor or is the timing off.....

It could be the carb gumming up, since you never drive it.
Starting the car and letting it idle not only build's up carbon but your not putting the motor under any load [even if you rev it.] You need to drive it more often, or store it properly.
It could be that the gas inside is going bad [add sta-bil if your barely driving it]

In any event, decide what you want to do.
Pull the carb off and store it inside [I'd clean it first] if your not going to drive it, and add stabil to the gas tank.
Store it properly, OR drive it more even every few days or so to get it up to operating temperature.
