MUST SEE: Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire

Each to their own and all that, but my wife has read the books and she had to explain so much - she agreed it was shabbily done. Practically the entire underwater sequence was totally incomprehensible, for example - the woman competitor (a complete drip by the way, which is very poor from Rowling) just disappears, four of the frienRAB are underwater in a trance but not actually drowning... what on Earth is going on?! Ask a few other people who haven't read the book, and you might see what I mean. I've just read the Empire review which summed it up quite well.

Sadly its a mess, and as I said its very annoying because it needn't have been the case. I didn't dislike it, it just should have been so much better.
 
It was excellent! The best Harry Potter film they have made so far IMO
and I think Daniel Radcliffe is a fantastic actor, they all are! apart from Fred and George who aren't amazing....

10/10 for the film! :D
 
I went to sww it yesterday as part of muy english coures it collage and found the specail affects amazing but it is not my type of film
 
The only thing that annoyed me the most about the film was :-
The whole thing with no house elfs as it was kinda a main point at the end. Also the fact that wormtail and barty crouch both refered to voldemort as Lord Voldemort when only 4 people will speak his name.

Other than that the film was amazing!
 
You weren't playing attention. Before the 2nd task started it was clearly said that during the night something dear to the competitors had been taken. The Delacroix did not just disappear we see her underwater then something pulls her down then in another shot on the platforms we see her being pulled out the water and an announcement that she has had to retire. If you can accept that a Dragon is chasing a boy on a flying broomstick the idea that 4 people are in a trance underwater yet not drowning really is not that hard to swallow.
 
the one aspect I thought was severely cut was the relationship with Sirius. Surely it must have been confusing for people that have only watched the films that the last time we saw him, him and harry were barely aquaintances, and now he is turning up with the fire.
I think the relationship should have been emphasised so that the next film will work better
you know what I mean
 
I have no option but to agree with everyone else - it was absolutely amazing!

Laugh-out-loud humour, edge-of-the-seat, breath-holding tension, and lump-in-the-throat emotion... it was absolutely stunning! I literally couldn't speak for a good 2 minutes after I came out of the cinema.

It stomps all over the other 3 HPs. Outstanding performances from everyone, even Radcliffe! All the soppy bits are gone, and there's no messing about at the Dursleys' or the Weasleys' to sit through before the film properly starts. It's straight to the PortKey and off to the Quidditch World Cup, and it's non-stop brilliant from then til the end. I really hope they get this director back for the next one.

I'm rating it "Film Of The Year" and I definitely need to see it again as soon as possible!
 
I loved it, but was dissapointed that the quidditch world cup scenes were so short, I did read somewhere that the budget was less than the last film if thats true the director spent it very wisely id give it 8/10.
 
Daniel said he might not appear in all the films as he doesnt want to be typecast. I kinda think thats unlikely cos he's still relatively young and besides HP is a great springboard for anyone's career.

Makes me wonder how he could be typecast though... what other film could have a wizard in it with a scar caused by a disturbingly evil snake-like character...?
 
These people are servants of Voldemort so why wouldn't they mention his name? It is only the people who fear him who are afraid to mention his name.

The whole house elfs thing is an amusing aside but doesn't really progress the story much so it was no surprise it wasn't in the film.
 
I loved the film. Its easily the best of the series so far, I wasn't expecting much because I was so disapointed with POA but GOF is excellent. Extremley dark and definatly not for small kiRAB.

Cannot wait for The Order of The Pheonix now!
 
Saw it last night... AMAZING... although there was some storys that just stopped and never carried on. ie relationship between Hermoine and Ron..

and the chinese girl was hardly in it despite her doing a heap of promotion work.

Ive never read the books though... i really should... but i do anticipate the next film.... Btw how hot is Emily Watson getting..
 
It was AWESOME!

I wanted it to be much scarier though,to shut those stupid kiRAB up behind me.

The effects were amazing and it wasnt boring one moment.

Mad Eye Moody was brillant.

Bring on number 5.

It's coming out Summer 2007, not November 2007, like Prisoner of Azkaban, which came out in the summer.

The Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson have all signed a contract for the fifth film only, and many in the industry think they should re-cast for the sixth film as the actors are rapidly out ageing their on screen counterparts. What does happen remains to be seen.
 
WOW! Saw it on Wednesday night and I absolutely loved it. I do agree with a lot of people that just a bit too much has been cut from the book and it did indeed feel a bit rushed in places, but overall, I'd give it 8/10.
I loved the underwater scenes and how good they made Harry look after he had the gillyweed.

Mad-eye Moody was brilliant! I could've watched him all day :)
