MUST SEE: Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire

Oh dont get me wrong, Ron swearing didnt upset me, I was just shocked to hear him mutter it when usually he just says Bloody and Git :D
 
I loved the fourth film. It is, with no question, the best Harry Potter film yet. I was so impressed with everything. The only thing I disagreed with were the large chunks that were missed out, but that was still nicely done. I would've liked to see the house elves, but I'm sure they will bring them in the next film.

I was very worried about the graveyard scene as I kept thinking that the way Voldemort would look and wondered if they'd pull it off. When Wormtail came out carrying the "baby" Voldemort in his arms, I nearly choked. I kept thinking, "Oh no! This is going to be a complete disaster!" but when he was put in the cauldron and the way the fire and everything turned him into the human Voldemort, I was so impressed. Very scary. Very well done. I was much impressed.

Danielle Radcliffe's acting skills aren't up to scratch, but it still wasn't bad. Emma Watson and Rupert Grint (or whatever his surname is) both done tremendously. I loved nearly EVERY scene in this movie and can't wait to see it again.
 
Just watched this and really enjoyed it. This was to be first HP film I had seen after reading the book so I wasn't sure, but I wasn't dissappointed.

I thought it was very clever how a few things where changed to make the plot make sense with certain characters missing and this also made for a few suprises to those who have read the books. Although the basic story hadn't changed there were a few suprises.

The fifth book will be hard as there is so much detail that will be hard to cut out, but I look forward to Imelda Staunton's potrayal of Dolores Umbridge and hope some of the humour in that book will not be missed in the film.

Excellent film. Well shot with wonderfull effects that weren't over the top or fake looking and well acted by everyone, especially Brendon Gleeson as Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody. Brilliantly dark with some good funny touches.
 
I, personally don't think it's a good idea to release the 5th film in June 2007 as it will be too close to the final book and may overshadow its release
 
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! went to see this last night with my girlies!!! and apart from warner bros cinemas p!ssin us off by not lettin us in and mixing up the times and screens etc it was an AMAZING film!!! my best friend lisa and i cried
at Cedric's funeral

Oh I was shocked as well, I was thinking to myself, did he actually say that? I guess it's not something you expect in Harry Potter. Yeah, we expect death and all that, but swearing? :D
 
I just got back from seeing it with my 7 yr old, who sat open mouthed for most of the way through! We both thought it was a great film with just the right amount of jumpy bits!
Shame about the really irritating little twerps sat behind me, who messed about, talked, and kicked my seat for most of the film which managed to ruin most of it for me as I was getting rather peed off with it!! I wonder why their parents didn't tell them to shut up or why they bothered coming at all!

Anyway, great film and i'm tempted to go back next week and sit right at the back so noone can sit behind me so i can watch it in peace!!
 
I also really enjoyed this one but it did have its flaws; two which I shall address here.

Where was the character development for the new characters? Because there wasn't any and Voldermolt doesn't count (he was great by the way).

Examples:

Cedric's death really didn't register with me because if like me you haven't read the books, which is where I hear his character did receive the development treatment, the same cannot be said for Cedric in the film. Here is this guy who has suddenly just appeared to be a student at Hogwarts (setting up someone's death usually is more beneficial if the audience already know the character well and are emotionally attached to them) and is taking part in the tournament and then barely has any screen time to boot. I cared far more for the father grieving for him then I did his death. When he was killed all that instantly came to my mind was "Cedric has just been killed, am I suppose to care now or something?"

Then the Yule Ball being way too short. It was almost as if someone had literally just snipped a reel of the film out and rejoined the negative hence the overlapping effects between shots. You know, one scene fading into another etc. The transition from waltz music to rock music was well... bad! lol.

Did anybody else feel this way?
 
Saw this last Sunday.
I was impressed - specially liked the first Triwizard Task.

Like everyone else who had read the books I noticed the things that were missing, but didn't think they really detracted from the movie. They would have to have made the movie overlong to include all the other stuff.
 
Just got back....WOW!!

I loved nearly every second of that. Just wish one of my frienRAB would have warned me that it features my greatest fear...that was the only part I didn't enjoy.

I think Daniel Radcliffe is a great actor and Ron's swearing didn't bother me a bit. It is rated 12a, but the 12 is fairly accurate, parents should consier this before taking their children to see it, I'll be amazed if half the children that were there sleep soundly tonight, not even sure I will!!

Just a shame Cedric Diggory had to be cute :rolleyes:
 
Not really. I think Cedric was portrayed as a good guy, certainly shown to be on Harry's side so we would obviously be sympathetic towarRAB him.

(BTW, I think people choosing to read this thread will be expecting to read about the film so there's no need for spoilers, really).
 
I absolutely loved this film. I thought it was amazing. disappointed we didnt see much interaction with the trio and the slytherins though. Also, it seemed as though the producers were trying to set Harry up with Hermione when almost everyone knows shes gonna end up with ron.

I thought the Yule ball was too short. I'm pretty sure they switch partners and Hermione enRAB up dancing with draco.

Loved the grave yard bit. So sad when Harry brings back Cedric's body. I hate Voldemort.


Was it my eyes or did i see Keith Miller (EE) playing Cedric's dad?

I bet the Yanks got a completely different film.

Don't wait for this on DVD. It has to be seen in the cinema, even better atmosphere when the place is full.
Excellent film, I could not believe it was 2hrs 40 mins, it just never felt that long.
I'm no fan of special effects, as they can sometimes be done for no reason. but a big hats off to the special effects team on this one. All of it was great, I hate to pick one bit out, but the underwater scenes can't have been real, but really looked so natural.
A bit that really made me chuckle was at the end of the ball, when the main characters are talking on the steps, there are three girls sitting behind them on the steps, 2 of them consoling a third who is crying. It wasn;t referred to, focussed on, or anything like that, but so true to life! How many of us can remember someone crying before the end of the school disco?! The little effects that were in the background were great, a bit like 'Gregory's Girl' from the 80s. Now that was a funny film.
I digress, sorry.
But I loved this HP film, definitely the best yet, shame but unavoidable to have cut so much out. I'm even considering seeing it again. I don't often do that.
I think it definitely deserves its 12a though - I'd be very wary of talking anyone much younger than that...
