Dont answer if you like it
I HATE!
what ever happened to real rock music. as in metallica. their first album kill em all, defines rock in my opinion.
dont you think that music now is not art, but just a marketable product used only for the "artist" and the record company big wigs to roll in the money pit.

it pisses me off so bad, i am 16 years old and i love to just rock my balls off( i am a girl haha) , it seems that nobody wants the in your face psycho crazy rebellious attitude of rock music!

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
i used metallica to show how music has turned into a marketable product. but before they were amazing and stayed true to their art form

Ever since music has been available on record - some has been more for the marketing and money while other music has been mainly artistic and about the music.

Time has no effect. There are still plenty of bands today that play for the fans and for the joy of the music. But yes, there is much more music today that has that marketable intention compared to decades ago.

You can't only blame the music lables though...it starts with the people.

yeah, metallica is "real rock music"....they have an "art form" also.... you have never even seen "real rock music".....

"artist integrity" doesn't put food on the table....

'Dont answer if you like it'
=/

That basically eliminates one choice, doesn't it? If you want to ask a question inquiring opinions, try to be fair.

Anyways, mainstream music in general is indeed, IMO, a marketable product simply because its mainstream status is caused by...well...marketing. Constant advertising and over-exposure in the media are all factors that contribute to the downfall of music.

However, underground music and certain mainstream artists still make music that can be considered 'art' as it doesn't compromise artistic integrity for cheap cash grabs.

Suggestion:

Stop listening to the radio.

Utilize the internet and you shall find the music you seek. The radio has always sucked. Yeah, there are highlights, but the reason we look back on the 60s, 70s, 80s and even now the 90s so fondly is we remember what was actually good! I bet you most of us have forgotten about the Spice Girls, but remember Nirvana and Pearl Jam!

Look online and you will find excellent music from this decade. The radio has always been over-commercialized shit.

plenty of its art, plenty of its marketable trash
you have to learn to pick up the good stuff you like
but i like your balls to the wall attitude

The irony here is a Band that you have used to describe your Theory, went from being classified as Art, to nothing more then a Marketable Band...
