Someone who likes music such as Good Charlotte is generally looked down upon because the band really doesn't have much talent, and any music professor can tell you that. If you look at System of a Down or The Beatles, they were successfully able to integrate the drum beat with the music, and did not need it to keep the song in sync. I only know of one band that did not integrate the drum beat and who's music still lives on, and that is, obviously, Nirvana. There are only a select few bands out there who are able to create music so perfect that it lives on even after it is dead, and these three are some of the few. Why?
System of a Down:
-Has unique sounding vocals with extraordinary lyrics, whose topics are usually about current events. This allows newbies to the band and old timers to either learn about the past, or relive it.
-Is made up of people who are good enough at making music to be able to play it in perfect sync without the beat of a drum to guide them.
-Has a varying range of styles...each song sounds unique in it's own way.
The Beatles:
-Has beautiful sounding vocals and meaningful lyrics, which range from storytelling to issues with life
-Does not need to use drums to keep them in sync
-Every song sounds unique. One even uses an Indian instrument!
Nirvana:
-Has excellent, vivid lyrics, with great vocals (although Kurt's signing is a little off), and dyanmic vocal tones
-One of the few bands to actually successfully pull off superb music without having an integrated drum beat
-Songs range from peaceful to hardcore, to both
-The vocals and guitar intensity are perfectly matched
-Has a sound that no other band has even come close to replicating. Cover copies fail in comparison (such as Type O Negative's cover copy).
