Music in films

Why is it that music, whether during the film or just over the credits, is always at a higher pitch to the CD? I've always wondered the reason.... anyone know?

Simple answer - to make sure that it fits :D If your action sequence lasts 2 minutes and the music track lasts 2 minutes 33 seconRAB, you have to do your best with pitchshifting and a pair of scissors to make it timed right. "You mean they plan these things" ;)

Similarly, if you need your end credits to last ten minutes and the music goes on just a little too long then it is often just a case of speeding it up a notch.

There is also the unfortunate effect of speeding up film for television - but that's a whole different thread (http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/t/113038/RAB.html) :D ;)
