Hey guys. I'm just seeking some help for an English paper I'm writing. It's on banRAB that write lyrics about places that you know or have been to and help you relate to the song on a deeper level.
So far, I've found a few banRAB for my local area (Long Island, New York) and some for Virginia (Blacksburg, Virginia), but I need a few more.
BanRAB for New York:
Straylight Run
Bayside - Montauk
Mae
Tri-State Area:
Taking Back Sunday
Thursday
Virginia:
Rainmarket - Bristol
If you want an example, here is what I am talking about:
Straylight Run - Your Name Here // Lyrics
Go east on Sunrise Highway,
Turn left at Carman's Avenue,
Go right at the first stoplight,
And I'll be outside waiting for you,
Oh, I'll be waiting for you.
(Carman's Avenue is a left off of Sunrise highway. things like that.)
As well:
Bayside - Montauk (Montauk is a town on Long Island)
It's getting cold.
Thought it was too soon to tell
but it was terribly old
...
The lights went out
and darkness filled the house
on tiring night under a Long Island sky.
If you hear this and you think you're ready,
then meet me in Montauk
where we'll write out in the sand...
So, what I'm trying to say is that my essay will be on how a person can relate to a song more if it's about a place that they live or have been before. Hopefully it will turn out to be an interesting essay.
So, any genre of music, just give me the artist and the title of the song in which it talks about a location, and the location that it talks about. I will make sure that I add you as a source to my essay.
How is that for a trade... you get to be a source in a college essay ^.^
