I just graduated high school this month and I am planning on attending Berklee College of Music in the next couple of years to double major in Music Production & Engineering and Songwriting with voice as my instrument. I have Pro Tools now and am interested in digital music production specifically. My parents met at Berklee and have taught me a lot about music and they are both music teachers now. I play piano and sing and was in choir in middle through high school. I want to go to a local university before Berklee to get my BA in photography and minor in music, so I would like to know what I can be doing now to start adding to my basic knowledge of music that I will need to do well in college music courses. I have a basic knowledge of theory and would like to have a really reinforced and complete understanding of music theory before I move on to more complicated studies in music so I will be able to understand everything more easily. What can I be doing in the next year or so to keep up sharply in music and be above ready to start minoring in music. If you have completed a degree or education in formal music what do you wish you would have taken the time to learn really well before you started?
