Music Club

Taken from the original post:

This Sunday is the day we are randomly picking the album. It'd be great if you submitted something, but again, you don't have to in order to participate.

That's what I do. Notice my join date and my post count. When I'm on, I consistently post.

Concerning Bikini Kill:

I was pleasantly surprised, I was expecting a cacophony. It was digestable on first listen, which is a compliment since I usually don't like the hardcore. Her voice is abrasive in a good way, though the way she yells things makes understanding the lyrics tougher. So it all kind of blended into one big yelp.

The problem with this sort of music is that it all feels very samey.

Well.. I mean what else am I supposed to do when people send me albums? I only have four. If you guys have any more, of course I'd like to know about them! I thought we were supposed to collaborate!

You could get in for this round! Want me to sign you up?

For sure, I'll add it in if you're down for a round, might as well participate if you're gonna submit. :tramp:

Writing this very late review while hearing the Bikini Kill album. It does sound very interesting all around, very fun like, though not too much interesting. Though I feel it is one of the banRAB that I should have known a long time ago, so I don't mind listening to them.

The first two (Statement of Vindication, Capri Pants) songs are really interesting to hear back to back, as both can get your energy rising in record speed. However the third (Jet Ski) kind of ruins the mood, specially with this full stop, when there's still a full minute into the song. For a two and a half minute song, it does seem to linger on. Not much change into the fourth song (Distinct Complicity), it even has that same full stop a minute into the song. The album seems to be revived with the next song (False Start) though, as the style changes completely from what has been heard previously. A smooth tune, with very lovely vocals, stays the strong drums in comparison. The contrast brings the song up, much better than a simple acoustic. And now it's turn for R.I.P, very interesting vocals on that one, very raw. Her voice sounRAB like it's tearing apart, but then comes that full stop. Though it re-enters in a very nice way, this time it's like a different version of the song, with a smoother, more heartfelt way. The seventh track (No Backrub) brings back the energy, and very catchy tune also. I feel it's one of those songs I see myself screaming along while driving. Though with Bloody Ice Cream, the energy is there, but not much else. The previous energy comes contrasted with one of the slow ones, For Only. I think that's the first one she hasn't screamed in, she's actually singing it smoothly, and I'm really liking this side of her voice too. After nine tracks this album doesn't seem to have much else to offer. The tenth (Tony Rendall) is pretty nice on the ears, so is the eleventh one (Reject all American), but they kind of bored me. As for the last, the Finale... same like the previous too.

I don't think I might hear the whole album frequently, thought some of the songs I'm sure I'm going to give more listens. My favourites are, for now, False Start, R.I.P and For Only.
...And here was my review, as I was hearing simultaneously the album, for my second time.

** Don't forget people:
The second Round, starts this Sunday.

If anyone has any album suggestions, he can still send it to any of us three.

Im in, if there is still space.

I think one album per a week is great, any more would be odd. Maybe what cou;d happen is that when the list of contributors is finalised, one name could be randomly picked then they submit the album for that week.
