Oh cool! I was doing this on another music forum. It started off strong but then people lost interest after they listened to too many albums in a row that they didn't like. I guess. Plus it was a much smaller community. I'll go back and read this thread but just wanted to share my enthusiasm.

Edit: I see reviews are being posted in here...might be nice to have a new thread for each selected album so it's easier to follow. Maybe that's already been suggested. But that would also leave threaRAB open for ongoing discussion rather than putting a time limit on listening to and reviewing each album.

I enjoy Reject All American overall but I don't think it stanRAB up to some of the other things Bikini Kill have done. I think Bloody the Ice Cream and Capri Pants are my favorite tracks from this album. In my opinion, Bikini Kill are pretty much the only Riot Grrl band worth listening to.

All right, I'm still in... but you guys... I really think this would work best if it was like the trading post. Even if the group all submit their own album then the person who gets to chose the album really has all of the power.

I still think my idea works best, which is this will be a weekly thing and that all who signed up for that week get to submit an album via PM to the organizer, not a link, just an album. Then the organizer randomly picks (which they swear to do), an album and that's the album for the week. Next week we do the same thing and discard all the albums that weren't chosen, I don't even think the person who submitted the album should take credit for it unless they want to.

If we decide as a group, that makes things complex. One person would have to organize a voting system every single week, there would be god who knows how many people involved every week ranging from new participants to old, and even if we could work it out with all the democracy the tastes of the majority would rule and some great gems may be completely discarded weekly.

The other idea was that we make a list for one week and listen to the entire list of albums. In the scenario that we only did one album a week, this method would become dull for me very fast. In the scenario that we tried to go through the entire list in one week, then I (and most likely others) would not want or have the time to keep pace and we may lose a lot of people and cause unnecessary difficulty.

Another issue I have is with the 100 post restriction, I think all should be allowed to participate. If we use my method, then all the damage a participant can do is not listen to the album and not talk about it, which isn't much loss to the thread, unlike in the Weekly Trading Post where if someone doesn't participate someone else gets screwed. On the flip side, if someone with 2 posts participates it could open them up to new music and encourage them to stay and be a productive meraber. See, no post restriction = no loss and all gain. The worst that could happen is they submit a shit album and everyone suffers for the week... but couldn't any meraber do that?

Also, what's going to be the official download date? Do we need to for everyone to submit an album, how long do we have, do we have to write a review on a certain date or shall we just discuss it. I think everyone writting a paragraph on it would be best.

Oh, also I'd like to mention I'm against the rule that we have to enter a paragraph explaining the reason for what we chose. I think that we should just sign-up for the week and send our album, hoping it will be the picked one... by means of random picking... randomly... and fairly... and randomly. Besides, if we have to enter a paragraph explaining ourselves that means that there is someone who is judging weather or not someone can join based on the album they submit... for me, that would suck.

Lastly, I'd like to put out that if AwwSugar or NuraberNine doesn't want to be the "organizer" in my idea, if that is what we decide to do, then I will gladly accept. =) I would promise to be random! So, guys, how are we going to decide which method we use? Is someone stepping up as the "organizer" and choosing for us or shall we take a vote with the small group we already have?

Edit: One very last thing, does anybody else think this thread should be named something catchier then The "Music Club"... how about "The Weekly Music Review Post", or something official sounding like that with a long pretentious name that somehow both fits and entices.

Well, if we had it so it would be a line, you'd probably be like 30th in line by now. Yes, of course you are allowed to keep sending the same album and I'm sure it will be picked eventually. I'd say before you submit it ten times there's like 90% chance it will have been randomly selected.

Really though for me half the fun is wondering who's album will get picked from the lot, and being album to enjoy that album. I would like for people to hear the album I sent in but even more I'd like to hear some new music.

Yeah, fair enough! I'm just slow, it took me a while to grasp the procedure and not be confused :p: Will definitely get involved and start thinking of some albums to upload... also, when we send the album in, do we send a link or just the album name and title? Who uploaRAB the album and sorts out the link to download it? Or do we all just have to search for links ourselves?

I read the first page with the instructions but didn't come across the answer to this :/

Anyway guys it's a great idea and thank you to all who have helped organise it!

Why do we need a certain group of people, is my question.
If everybody submits when they want, and we just go through the list, one album a week, then no one is left out, and no one has to "choose" anything, randomly or not.
I'm not trying to start an argument, I promise, and I trust you'd pick randomly.
I just think everyone's choice should be considered, you know?
