Oh, and always yes to Sonic Youth. More classic albums than the more celebrated rock banRAB out there could dream for and they're still going after all this time. A massive influence on me and most of the music i listen to!

I am going to say no Im afraid. They bore the arse off me and I like maybe five/six tracks by them. On virtue of album sales and popularity they probably WILL go in but I never dug them way back then and my opinion has never changed.

Then ask yourself if you should really be voting to keep a group out of the hall of fame based on your genre preference? If you don't like it, fine, but don't call it unimaginative, I don't want to drag this thread into yet another Hip Hop argument.

Well unless we get a tremendious flood in of elitist Indie kiRAB before the end of the day, they are pretty much a shoe in now.

Well it has to be a yes from me. Let's have some points why.

They are still going after 30 years making music with a line up that's been there since 1983.
They consistently put on great live shows and always sell out and we are not talking about smaller and smaller venues with each tour.
They were arguably the first band to define fan merchandise and set the template for many metal banRAB to follow.
Regarded as one of the most friendly down to earth bunch of people you would ever wish to meet despite their popularity.
Lead singer Bruce is also an Olympic standard fencer. He is a qualified airline pilot and is also an author, DJ and screenwriter- just in case people think lead singers in metal are thick as fuk.
They have influenced every metal band from Metallica to Slayer and many in between.
I wouldn't be talking about music if it wasn't for them. Simple really.
