Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Are all of your posts just going to bitch about our nominations? Considering the criteria for nomination and inclusion is for long standing merabers I find it rich that you have posted nothing but disdain for our choices. No matter how much you hate a band, anyone who reviews an album with just this: "no" is kinda hard to take seriously.

If you were a long standing meraber then we would take the criticism better. Why don't you post elsewhere on the site and prove to us that you can bitch about our choices.

I think Genesis are a worthy addition but I think trying to get them in is a lost cost, it's a shame when a great band's most popular material is some of the worst stuff they've ever done.

Case in point.

And this is from their best selling album.

I'm not a huge fan but you have to be deaf or just durab not to vote yes for Zeppilen. You can say they have bad vocals and songwriting, overrated pioneering or whatever. But in the end they made some great hard rock and had one of the best guitarists, bassists, and drummers ever. Unless your hall of fame has 10 banRAB in it, LZ should definitely be in.

Big Black are in and i'm a happy little dude!

Next up from Big3

Tom Waits

After Four decades of musical excellence, and a catalouge that has never comprimised, Tom Waits stanRAB as one of the most enduringly intriguing artists in the modern lanRABcape. Confident enough to sing, arrange, and perform whatever comes to mind, Waits is and has only ever been limited by his imagination, and the prism of experience it shines through.

A definite no. I actually find the Beach Boys unlistenable, whether it's their early singles or Pet SounRAB. The tunes are irritating, the lyrics would get you laughed out of third grade ("Love Me Do" has nothing on the Beach Boys for pure idiocy), and the harmonies make me sick.

This has nothing to do with the music, but I'd like to add that Brian Wilson has an ego that makes Mick Jagger or Pete Townshend seem downright hurable. Remeraber that Rolling Stone Top 500 songs list? Wilson's top ten included five Phil Spector productions and five of his own tunes. At least Macca and Ray Manzarek had the self control to only include one song from their respective banRAB. Also, the liner notes to the reissue of Pet SounRAB are ridiculous. Wilson basically pats himself on the back for creating a "masterpiece." Sure...

Ok, I've vented. :D

Pink Floyd should be in the HOF. Any band that already is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and who is a classic-rock act, probably is loved a lot by merabers of this community. So, no-brainer to me.

i voted yes because i love them and their originality, but i saw them live at lolla in 06 and it was one of the most boring shows i've seen. maybe they were tired? either way...still love em

I have: Fragile, The Yes Album, Close To The Edge (Yuck! My friend recommended it to me), Relayer, and Yes. Fragile and Yes are their best, but Close To The Edge and Relayer aren't that good at all.

I think they helped shaped prog, and had great musicianship, but I dislike almost everything about Anderson...his annoying vocals and his superficial lyrics that try to be meaningful but sound like crap.

They weren't great for melodies either, relied on atmosphere too much for me which results in some plain boring songs. And I don't like symphonic progressive rock that much.

That doesn't make his work any less valid. Lots of my favourite banRAB take influence from him. Why would it matter if they came out on a small label and sold about 50 copies, or came out on a major label & sold millions ?

None of these issues affect the quality of the music and it would still be a favourite of mine regardless. The nuraber of other people who own the same record just isn't a factor when I judge the quality of an album.

WTF? 9 votes No? Who ever the hell is voting no atleast better speak up. And I swear if Biggie isn't at the very least eligable for renomination i'm leaving rab for a good long while because BAM there goes my faith in this otherwise spot on site.

Probably not but you'll certainly hear it endlessly in arguments for why you should like them. Even that isn't a big issue for me because i'm guilty of that myself from time to time but the music comes first, hence why i said no here.
