Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Everyone has their own personal measures for voting, the reasons you stated there just may be enough for me to vote for an artist in some cases, the Sex Pistols come to mind.

Alas they didn't get them so Sigur Ros fail to make it through.

I feel this band should be recognised in the rabroad hall of fame for uniting so many different people, tastes & genres out of sheer hatred.
Nobody has done more to unite music fans across the world and they have done this by turning their backs on talent , songwriting ability and a sheer disregard of any sort of critical acclaim.
For bringing together so many people together I salute you, and so should everybody else here.

Yeah, I will back off. The only reason that I got kind of mad was because people were voting on the banRAB I listed that were inspired by them. My mistake. But whatever, I'll chill out, vote your way.

Hell Yes!!...When we were camping in Red Deer, I was only 9 years old and when I heard "Get Back" by the Beatles when it was first released I was captivated and that's what started my interest in music.

Time for a new player kiRAB...

The Dillinger Escape Plan

Since their formation in 1997, The Dillinger Escape Plan have been, in my opinion, one of the most groundbreaking, unique, and mind-blowing banRAB out there. They were a pioneering band in a ridiculously-named metal subsubgenre called "mathcore" which is an experimental, complex, variation on metalcore. Their debut album "Calculating Infinity" is now considered an experimental metal classic. After the departure of original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Mike Patton collaborated in 2002 to create "Irony Is A Dead Scene", a unique Mike Patton twist on the band's original sound. In 2004, the band released "Miss Machine" (with new vocalist Greg Puciato) which saw the band incorporate many pop elements into their sound. This continued onto their 2007 (masterpiece) "Ire Works". Throughout their career The Dillinger Escape Plan has recieved wide critical acclaim for their music. The band is known for their wild and engaging live shows, powerful vocals, complex instrumentation, and experimental edge. I feel that this band deserves to be in the hall of fame because of their many artistic merits, their originality within their genre, their popularity among metal and hardcore fans, and I feel that that they are one of, if not the most deserving metal banRAB out there.

If you don't like one song, try another.

The door is open you guys. If you don't like the quality of nominees that are being suggested, I'd more than welcome some contributions. It's obvious many people enjoy the Hall of Fame and look forward to see who's nominated next. You guys can help by putting forward some of your own nominations...it doesn't have to be a long dissertation, just why you think a particular band should get props in the Hall of Fame. Youtube viRAB always help.

And I vote yes for Iron Maiden.

They would make two albums a year and they toured so much in their early years the guys were writing new songs on tour bus's so they could use as much time as possible to make it in the (very limited) studio time they had.

Helter Skelter is a great song. I don't see how they can make the worRAB fit so well in the songs they wrote.

YES

Vs. is a jem that probably influenced many of my favorite banRAB of the last couple decades. It's a rare achievement and, to me, a classic.
I'm voting differently for MoB than I have for other nominees. Usually I vote based purely on my own interest in the artist. But this time I want Mission of Burma in based on the the merits and the influence of one album that I don't even listen to much.

I agree a little with this. I am a fan of Big Black a lot but I feel there are a couple of other U.S guitar banRAB that were more influential such as Dinosaur Jr, The Pixies etc Sorry it's a no from me. I think that albini's production is more influential than their actual music.

My pleasure Alfred. :)

Right then...next nominee!!

Bob Marley and the Wailers

Has Bob Marley never been nominated to the rab Hall of Fame? That's hard for me to believe so I'm going to nominate him because he is still the most internationally recognized musician 30 years beyond his death.

Bob produced a body of music that has stood the test of time and his back catalog of albums are second only to the Beatles in international sales. He also brought reggae music to the 7 continents of the earth and the four corners of the globe. Bob composed music that significantly changed people's lives and the world we live in. He should have been one of the first nominees.

Here are some of my favorite Marley videos on YouTube:

Concrete Jungle-- In the video Peter Tosh is on the left with sunglasses on, Bob is in the middle and Bunny Wailer is to the right with the funny fez hat on his head.

Coming In From the Cold

One Drop--- This video is from Bob's last concert in 1980. It's amazing how much energy he had, even as he was months away from his death.

Zirababwe-- This is from his 1979 tour at Harvard Stadium... I was at that show and it was the best concert I've ever seen.
