Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

How many spots do we have in this Hall of Fame, BTW?

Yes. Even though they aren't among my very favourite banRAB, they definitely deserve a place in the Hall simply because of the innovation and creativity expressed in their music. They broke many barriers and paved way for the future of heavy metal (even though that specific genre was just one of many that they ventured on).

I already do ths when the margin is close enough to make a difference, obviously with noms like this i don't need to alter the votes because theres double the votes against.

I have probably heard them without actually identifying the track as theirs... they're probably great at their chosen genre, but that isn't my electronic cup of tea so to speak... I like mainly mellow, trancey, spacey stuff.... but hey I might even catch a download or two if anyone wants to change my mind or convince me otherwise...

You don't like Bob, you don't like Elvis, in fact I never seen you make a positive post for just about any band or artist. I never knew why, but it dawned on me. It's so obvious you come from Sweden and no artist/band can compare to ABBA!?

Are you saying that it is an invalid post? If so I am very dissapointed. In the UK we heard many prototypes of zep before our American frienRAB had heard of them. Cream, John Mayall, Blind Faith, Fleetwood Mac, Rory Gallacher, Jeff Beck were all making music that shared many attributes with Zeppelin at that time and I prefer each and everyone to Zep. Zeppelin are a blues rock band that managed to capture the zeitgeist and achieve massive success. They were great at what they did. Unfortunately what they did was in many ways old hat in the UK.

"Yeah but they achieved massive success and sold so many albums"...so did MJ, Whitney Houston and Huey Lewis. Does'nt mean you are better than everyone else.

Joy Division have created a similar reverence to Zeppelin and it only took two albums to achieve this.

Calculating Infinity is kind of a classic. Irony Is A Dead Scene is good. But Miss Machine was one of my biggest letdown albums. I can't stand Puciato's 'clean' vocals. To me the band sounRAB terrible when polished.

No

Even though, at this point, the majority of their output has sucked, I'm voting yes to the Chilis because:

  1. Their first four albums are all fantastic, an accomplishment in and of itself.
  2. For better or worse they were one of the most influential rock banRAB of the past 20 years or so.
