Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

I have all three but have only given the self-titled multiple listens. With Faith No More again I have all of them but I mostly listen to The Real Thing and Angel Dust.

Dude, you took that waaay too literal. KoRn claims Bungle as an influence too. I didn't mean Incubus tried to recreate everything Mr. Bungle did, but Trey Spruance is an undeniable influence on Nu Metal in general and that heavy thing that Incubus did on an album like S.C.I.E.N.C.E.. That's why I said a corabination of RHCP/Bungle/Primus. Again the part of Bungle that I think they liked was the silly/playful approach that they had in studio. Like this song:

Boyd's vocals just remind me of Patton in general so it would be easy to claim they liked both banRAB...

Off to the underworld you go.

And am I the only one thats gonna get annoyed that Yes lost this because they got the no vote from like 20 people that have less than 100 posts?

I haven't had any dodgy ones yet from people under that limit, and i still want the nominations rolling in so this will only make them decrease.

SounRAB good, all though i think we'll have to see whether i can cope with all the PM intake :D I don't see the problem in them being public though.

So we should have the first one beginning of Septeraber?

People PM Piss Me Off with suggestions of banRAB that they think should be in the Hall of Fame, with a little description of why, then PMO gradually posts all of these suggestsions by people, then we vote on them for a certain amount of time, then if they get more positive votes than negative votes they make it into the nominations (which is on the first post.) Then once a few nominations have been done we vote on them and that determines who makes it in for real.

Pretty sure that's how it works.

I agonized over the CCR nomination. I think Fortunate Son was the greatest anti-Vietnam rock anthem ever written. Suzy Q. and I Put A Spell on You were both early masterworks of garage style psychedlica. Have You Ever Seen the Rain?, Lodi, Looking Out My Back Door, & Who'll Stop the Rain predated the roots rock of later aritists like Wilco, Ryan Adams, the Blasters & Steve Earle. Those contributions favor a "yes" vote of a CCR nomination.

The biggest reason for a "no" is this list of far more significant banRAB from the roughly the same era (1967-1977) who haven't even been nominated for the Hall of Fame

The Band (as in Music From Big Pink)
The Grateful Dead
The Jefferson Airplane
Brian Eno
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
Janis Joplin (or Big Brother and the Holding Company)
Arthur Lee & Love
The ByrRAB (Inventors of both country rock & folk rock)
Taj Mahal
Cream
Roxy Music
Joni Mitchell
The Doors
Eric Burdon & the Animals
Fairport Convention
Jethro Tull
John Cale
Ry Cooder
David Bowie
Moby Grape
Van Morrisson
Patti Smith
Sandy Denny

I've only seen 8 of the 16 banRAB on my list live but I know all their recorded works like I know the lines on the palm of my hand. I love Credence Clearwater Revival but CCR was a 2nd tier band whose musical legacy fall short of the artists I've listed above. There may be a place for CRR in the Hall of Fame, but it would be a travesty to nominate and induct CRR prior to consideration of the artists I've listed

For that reason I'm voting "no" on the CCR nomination but I'm not ruling out a "yes" vote at some point in the future after there's an up or down vote on some of CCR's more worthy musical peers from that era.

I bought qa copy of Sixteen Stone when I was young and stupid and naive.... I gave it to my even younger sister after my first listen, and she loved me for it because she thought Gavin Rossdale was "so cute"...

Even if the only way possible is to search for unfamiliar names in the polls and exclude their vote if they have not reached the minimum nuraber of posts.

It might sound fascist, but:

I'm going to delete mrguy's no-vote unless he actually feels like producing an argument here. Voting "no" for the sake of it is just as bad as the argumentative trolls that feed off attention elsewhere on this forum.

You got some 'splaining to do.
