Exactly why I'm abstaining from this one...and the fact that I haven't listened to their entire discography yet.

Grunge tenRAB to be looked down upon on this forum... especially by you UK folk. I'm not saying there's a problem with that, I'm just giving Nirvana some support because I have the feeling that they're doomed.
 
Not what I was going for. What I mean is that the stoner-qualities of Pink Floyd are a bit over blown. Yeah they're trippy at times, but there is a lot of stuff out there that is WAY trippier than Pink Floyd. Just because a bunch of stoners wear their RABOTM sweatshirts everyday doesn't mean PF hasn't had a great output of music. They've had a lot of great guitar work and song writing over the years and they get a bad reputation from a bunch of fans who have never listened to Piper, Animals, Meddle etc...



Yeah I suppose that there are no super star pop acts like the 80s had, but is that really a bad thing? And just because it came first doesn't mean it's better.
 
I'm no longer voting based on impact but based on who I like.

So they get a yes from me. If that bore Elliott Smith could make it so far, why not?
 
I was going to vote No comedically... but then I remerabered this is rabroad and it's not that far fetched.

Anyway, it's a yes of course. He definetly deserves it. He gets alot of praise and frankly I think he deserves it.
 
Seeing as how we have a tie this week...I'm going to leave this open for a couple more days to see if we get anymore votes. Don't worry Conan...you're nom will be given a full week of voting, and it'll be up in the next day or so.
 
OK, so I fell off my place on the fence... and I voted yes, haven't heard a bad thing about them, and I've kinda always liked their name...hehehehehe.... weak reasoning, I know, but, eh...you gotta swing one way...
 
Um, are you serious? How many Neil Young types do we need? Elliott Smith doesn't even sound like Neil Young. I'm not even going to bother replying to the rest of what that implies because I find it snobby and ignorant.
 
Without instigating an enormous flame war, I'd like to respectfully vote no on this matter. The Beach Boys (Brian Wilson especially) never cut it as songwriters in my opinion and they earn way to much respect for the few talents that they had.

I'll hold off voting now, I definitely like Atomizer more than SAF, but I think Albini's responsible for better projects. Shellac is pretty damn good, dunno if they were as influential as Big Black.
 
I agree with you that it isn't about ignorance, and I wouldn't call someone ignorant because of how they voted. I was actually just bringing up the subject to be a wiseass. :D
