Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

They've got their place, maybe even a significant one for some genres and sub genres of metal... but, nah, I really am not into them so cannot say yes with any consciece...

Not really, I just think that they're mainstream success isn't based on their music. There's a ton of music I don't like that I still respect and understand the popularity of, but Nirvana does not fall into that category.

I said yes even though I don't know them all that well (should I have abstained?). They've become a staple of classic rock stations, and not one of the more annoying ones either.

I really couldn't care less about Nirvana anymore and haven't done for a nuraber of years now. However Nevermind was a major stepping stone for me when it came to learning to appreciate music that was somewhat more aggressive than what I was listening to previously. Back then they were important, and their importance and their sheer impact can't really be argued.

For the role their music played in my transition to more aggressive music I vote yes.

Fair enough, regarding his solo stuff and without being biased, there's definitely fan-only stuff there.
That said if he were to be nominated as a sort of 'icon' involving his whole career he should go in no doubt, i noticed Damon Albarn was nominated in the old Hall of Fame and i think that was the best option because he obviously has far more talent than can be shown in just one of his projects.

I think them continuing to try in re encapsulate what Agaetis had would bring them to start making boring albums. Like Oasis in a way they'd become predictable. That's why I think it was a smart thing for them to try to move into a pop-ish direction.

Tough. They're one of my favorites but at the same time idk if they're "HOF" material (yet). I went yes, if nothing else for the perfection that is De-loused in the Comatorium.

This is an ongoing project and is meant to represent the tastes of the community here. A lot of the artists you meet are respected and enjoyed here and just have not been nominated yet or they have not been put up for vote if they have. Stick around long enough and feel encouraged to lead the charge for on of those you consider worthy of induction.

I was asking for a main preference, but fine.

For Humour, get Sheik Yerbouti
For Jazz, get Hot Rats
For prog, get Freak Out (granted far more experimental than prog), Absolutely free and We're Only In it For the Money
For some awesome guitar, basically check out any of them.

I voted yes... he may not be noteworthy for his music, but there was a major ripple effect of his work as a general performer that affected musicians... Tool is a particularly good example here.
