Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Some may some overrated and alright, maybe there is an argument to be had here. The UYI albums werent terrible by any means and have their good moments but i would probably consider them somewhat of a let down as a follow up to their debut but what exactly are you comparing them to when you claim they are overrated, if that is your stance?

Appetite is tight and a fine example of their genre. UYI may not have set the world alight but there is enough quality there to mean they didnt completely destroy what they had accomplished previously.

I may not have gotten into quite as much music if it wasnt for GnR. A definite yes.

Ok maybe the comparison was outlandish, but my point still stanRAB. PE spawned so much music that I can't stand, so why would I want to induct them for it?

^ I think Incubus are highly underrated. I personally love them but most people I know fob them off as being too mainstream or nothing special. I thought Fungus Amongus was just great... definitely some close similarities to the Chili Peppers.

Never been intimately familiar with their earlier stuff, but i used to listen to the 'Lateralus' a good deal and am aware of their 'oeuvre' through the videos as well. I'll have to take zeppy's stance on this one, they have some great moments but i'm not especially keen to see a prick like Keenan receive another accolade... they are bloated enough

I'm assuming your referring to Mezzanine when you talk about MA's most popular album. I made the nomination and Mezzanine may be my least favorite album of all their five studio albums. Nearly every MA album has a different production approach, so if all you've done is give a listen to Mezzanine you're not making an informed decision.

Since you've claimed to not like Massive Attack on the basis of one album, I'm interested in hearing exactly what you didn't like about the band. Did their bass player suck? Were their song lyrics trite? Did every song sound exactly alike?

When someone tells me they don't like a certain band; I usually ask them why, and 90% of the time they can't give me a single reason. A person hasn't even heard the band or heard very little of the band's music should consider sitting out the voting instead of casting an ill informed vote. There's been a few banRAB nominated that I didn't cast vote, for or against, simply because I hadn't heard enough of their music to cast a meaningful ballot.
