Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

I voted yes. Not one of my favourites, but they made some really good albums. Plus, it was a while ago since there was an artist that I liked that was up for nomination.

I voted no. Why are the beatles being nominated instead of maybe a lesser-known band (so pretty much any other band)? I love the Beatles, but they get way too much attention. It feels redundant having to add them to every hall of fame/best music list/etc. every time it comes up. It should be assumed the Beatles are in the hall of fame anyway, why waste the time to vote them in?

I didn't vote either way for Nirvana and the same goes here. I don't really have an opinion on them. Their first album is by far my favourite but after that? Not really my thing at all.

Is it really though? I mean, personally I would be considering things like how long they have been around, consistency rather than just standout albums etc but surely this Hall of Fame is Our Hall of Fame? Almost like an index of our favourite artists as a site that supposedly has merabers of all kinRAB of music tastes. You know, so we can have artists in our HOF that wouldnt ever get into a "real" one.

rab is no longer a democracy. You can vote for whomever you like, just so long as that person is Frank Zappa.

*Pretend I'm good with photoshop and I fixed Zappa's face upon the projector screen

I love that movie and the music. Perhaps we should have the courage to nominate Rogers and Hammerstein instead of the flaming obvious;)

That's a ridiculous comparison for several reasons:
1. This is the rab HOF. Nobody on rab likes Britney Spears.
2. You know nothing about the band or the genre. If you'd listened to most of their discography with a decent knowledge of Hip Hop to compare it to that would be alright. But you don't.
3. PE is not only influential they're groundbreaking. Britney Spears...

I haven't listened to Circle Takes the Square or much emo in general for about five months.

I haven't listened to the Misfits or punk in even longer. Minus the occasional Crass or Dead Kennedys album but that's more the exception rather than the rule.

Well i suppose some people just can't get into certain genres and that's fine (if i ever end up listening to black metal i'll eat my hat), i've always thought though that if there's any one artist to represent rap then it's the Wu-Tang Clan.
Glad i've been a help in your listening habits though! :)

Aint that the truth! I find I like Muse a whole lot better when I tune out and ignore the breathing thing I must admit....

I voted yes. I think they're loved by enough people here on rab that they deserve a place, even though I am far from being their biggest fan...

I think this constant bitching about the longevity of Joy Division is ridiculous. The fact they achieved all they did with only two albums says quite a bit. Besides most classic rock banRAB released like a few classic albums then release 30 years of **** following it and no one ever questions their legendary status. Oh and New Order kicked ass so its fairly obvious that if Ian had lived and they'd released a third album they wouldn't have been burnt up or washed out or anything.
