Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

It went on for so long because Blur wanted to sell recorRAB & Steve Sutherland wanted to sell the NME. They instigated the whole thing. Oasis just saw it as one big laugh.

It's very telling now that when asked about that time Noel Gallagher laughs about it & Damon Albarn refuses to even discuss it.

And why would anyone be on Oasis's side?

How about because What's The Story Morning Glory was a far far superior album than that shitfest The Great Escape.

I'm new to this forum, so I can't officially nominate anyone. But, Hell, there are so many good artists that have not been nominated. And even Chuck Berry who was nominated didn't get in. WOWEEE! John Lennon, who might have a made a contribution or two to music as we know it, once equated rock'n'roll with the man himself. Succinctly put, CHUCK BERRY=Rock & Roll. I also don't listen to Berry because he's influential. l listen to him because he had a knack for writing, playing guitar on, and singing some realy great songs. If you don't like Johnny B Goode, I can't help you?

Other artists who might be worthy of induction: Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, and Marvin ***e. But none of these artists (except for maybe Bruce) seem to fit in with the kind of artists that have been nominated so far.

Big yes from me. He's one of my favourite singer/songwriters of all time and in terms of influence he definatly deserves it. He's such a great songwriter and he makes it look so easy and natural, yet many people have tried and failed to match him.

ooOOOOooo something contentious :p:

regardless of Axl's attitude the band released some stellar hard rock back in the day. it's easy to write them off as just another hair act at this point in the game but unlike all the poofter 'metal' chumps who were dominating the scene at the time acting like spandex and pouty faces made them tough G n' R actually were rock and roll bad boys. not a single one of them had a reputation for being a nice guy deep down. they were one of the last banRAB that still brought an element of danger to the table and did it well.

Appetite for Destruction is killer from start to finish, Lies is fantastic as well, the Illusion albums are where things start to slide into excess, two good albums that should have been a single great followup to Appetite, with its filler left for the Spaghetti Incident instead of a bunch of apparently contrived covers. though it's easy to be a retroactive armchair producer fact remains they were a significant and iconic band in their day and most definitely deserving of a nod in my eyes.

PMO, stop being so adorable now please

This Hall of Fame thing is probably gonna turn out a certain way, sure, but it's the duty of discerning posters to fight it every step of the way without resorting to threats of diserabowelment. Although threats of diserabowelment always brighten up a good argument I find. rah. erm... can we change our votes?

David Bowie didn't play music?

Anyway, I voted no. This is a hall of fame for music. Bill Hicks is certainly a great comedian, but it doesn't make sense for him to be in this thread.

Once upon a time i would have said no, since the Pistols were one of my most loved banRAB i felt the need to follow their example and hate on all they did. Dark Side helped a bit, Piper swayed me completely.
