Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

I have always had a soft spot for the Kinks, then I checked out their later stuff such as 'Village Green' and was flabbergasted at how influential they were. A resounding yes. Alays more interesting lyrically to the Beatles too. Quintessentially English.

The Beach Boys are through, next up from British Pharoah

Public Enemy

Their politically charged lyrics criticising the US government and the media make them the nuraber 1 Rap/Hip Hop outfit of all time in my eyes, no other Hip Hop artists can enter any music HOF (even one for the purpose of fun on an internet forum) before these icons.
Hip Hop has unfortunately now become an outlet for young black men to spout off about how much money they have, how big their rims are and how violent they can be against other black men.

PE got it right and now the genre and image of Hip Hop has been tainted by these Hip Hop posers and phoneys.

There have been thousanRAB of musicians who picked up their instruments because of the Chilis, but NONE have come close to replicating their unique sound...

not really...

after listening to some more of their stuff for me its kinRAB like this:

good:
the yes album
relayer
90125
open our eyes
magnification

ok:

bad:

theres a few i havent heard yet...but like i said before...the good stuff isnt good enough to cover up the bad stuff

on the subject of black punk groups YouTube - PURE HELL
i dont know why you'd get your knickers in a twist about the race thing, it's only worth mentioning because punk has been such a predominantly white genre; answers as to why on a postcard. anyway Bad Brains were mental, great musicians and never afraid to switch it up with metal and reggae. big fat yes

Aeroplane is a good album, but yeah, it's overrated.

Maybe I'm saying this because I listened to that album expecting it to be an earf*ck of unimaginable horror, as I am required to expect from anything with the Indie label on it, but yeah, it was a great album, maybe even the best album of 98.

But I never hear any reference to the banRAB other work, which is only one other album, as if it's not really that important, and I don't think this album is great enough to warrant these guys a place in the hall of fame.

Good recommendations. I'm not as big a fan of Swordfishtrorabones as lot of people but it doesn't sound like any of his other albums and it's probably his most transitional album so it certainly worth a listen for people new to his music.

I think it's a formal rule. It's just there so i don't have a newbie come and make a nomination and then never come back. Thing is a can trust you to come back and back up your claim so yeah, feel free to nominate :)
