I said yes (THAT'S NOT PUNNY! nyucknyucknyuck). not that I care, but if I have to say yes or no in the subject than it would be of course they do, one of the original prog greats with some truly superb material under their belt, and their influence rolls down the line since then.
Watch out, the worlRAB behind you
Theres always someone around you who will call
Its nothing at all
Amazing lyrics, beautiful (and cheap) production, gorgeous melody, a breathtaking atmosphere, and a relaxing, lazy guitar solo as icing on the cake. Love it.
No that was what I was looking for. I think for me that band would be the police. I like a few songs alright though the catalouge ain't for me, but just the same I can recognize how their unreal and would end up voting for them.
Well, their debut, Sandinista and London Calling are (to me) three truly great albums. That was why I voted yes. Even if I don't listen to them so much these days they're well worth a place in the hall of fame in my opinion.
Apparently Rivers Cuomo thinks he looks just like him... Honestly, I don't have any of his music, but I am not foolish enough to deny the profound influence he has had upon our moder musical scene, and the evolution of rock and roll. For those reasons alone I just gotta vote yes.
If the sole criteria for the hall of fame is based on the ilk of banRAB like the sex pistols this would easily get old FAST, there might as well not be a poll. I'd rather have a mixture of defining banRAB and just generally artists who are over hyped by people on here being nominated. If this wasn't the case it wouldn't be a rabroad hall of fame; but more of a over-zealous lets see how many artists I can pigeon-hole into one list that people salivate over and regard them as influential because they had that one record people loved/hall of fame.
i'm somewhat torn on this one. on one hand, i strongly dislike their first two albums and i feel that they get more recognition for being "musically talented" than for actually writing two solid albums. on the other hand, i really like the direction they've taken and i think they do a good job staying relevant by corabining elements of sludgier influences like Sleep & Kyuss with progressive undertones. and while i disapprove of the simpering fanaticism they certainly know how to write a good fucking song when they want to.
My thoughts exactly. Apart from the not liking his music bit. True, I've only got Desire and some best of I picked up second hand in some corner of the country or other, but you just can't deny him a spot really.
I'm torn on this one. On the one hand it does seem a little biased not to count the vote, seeing as others who've voted with no explanation have helped determine whether or not an artist makes it into the HOF. On the other, there is the great possibilty that he's just trolling and voted no just to spoil it for everyone.
He has over 100 posts, i've seen him post around here and he seems fine. Do I think he's a poor voter? Yes. A straight troll? Probably not.
