Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

I'm still debating the issue. On one hand they produced brilliant songs like Rarable Tarable and Run Through the Jungle and are well respected by even the punk ideologists who disavowed classic rock. On the other they were all over the place on even their best albums and churned out shit songs with the rest of them.

In a toss-up between the Dead and CCR, I've got to go with the Dead every time, but I'm not sure how that's relevant to whether they were HOF material.

I really havent heard enough to say yes or no..Im not gonna vote. I didnt like what I did listen to, just not my thing. That said I know their impact has been big..so its a null vote for me.

seeing as this is the first time that i and many others have even heard of them, i don't feel that they should be in the HoF, a place which is supposed to represent the shared tastes of most of the people here.

You will make a great politician answering a question with a question:).

It is not a matter of being a fan or a non fan. I am just curious as to why he should be included in a Hall Of Fame.

Hmm no they are quite hit and miss, Mothers Milk, BSSM, TUMPP and Freakey Styley are all good but other than that no and they aren't really HoF material.

PS Flea most overrated Bassist ever? he's good but not the best how he's in so many top tens I don't know.

When then lets say **** you to Black Sabbath for all the **** they did with Dio then.

And I never said anything about their early albums, Yes was an average but decent enough debut, and Time and a Word is actually pretty damn good.

And not all their later albums are bad either. Their last two albums were good, they mark a return to their prog roots and the traditional lineup. Hell Magnification was pretty much the best thing they've done since Going for the One. They only have 5 truly mediocre/bad albums IMO, hardly any more than Pink Floyd, and hell, Genesis, Jethro Tull, ELP and Moody Blues have all put out more sh*t than Yes ever did, the amount of crap Yes have put out is actually relatively small for a 70s prog band.

They were only pop briefly, it started with Drama, which was a very good album, then even furthur with 90125, which was still good. They only have a few albums I'd call horrible, Big Generator, Union and Open Your Eyes, that was their bad pop/arena rock phase. Tormato and Talk are pretty mediocre but had a few redeeming qualities.

They still have more good albums than bad ones.

I'm still incredibly torn....ok I'm voting yes. The staying power of their radio hits is enough for me to go off of.

But I'm pretty upset Yes didn't make it into the HOF.

Chuck Berry? Garbage? I'll refrain from mentioning Jesus & The Mary Chain....

OOPS!

All I ask is that we make up our damn minRAB.

It's either "vote for who you like" or "vote for those that deserve it based on impact and influence". Not "pick whichever option you feel like choosing at any given time".

This. It was 100% percent a parody of grunge and them fooling around with the American 'underground'. It's sad that it is basically the only song my frienRAB know blur for.

Pretentious ****heaRAB who are getting known off of other banRAB' formulas. Anything after Pablo Honey pales in comparison. They're past their prime and to even call them the most talented band around is an insult to banRAB with artistic integrity.

Its a yes from me.
