Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Stop changing your stance on what it takes to get into the HOF.

Elliott Smith got in despite having no real impact whatsoever, and that's just because everyone here likes him.

If you like them, just f*cking vote for them.

I'm not mate ;) I hated The Smiths until I was in my early 20's so it's something that didn't resonate on a growing up level. I do like them but just not enough.

Of course Wu Tang belong in a hall of fame.

They were completely unique & original and about the only mainstream hip hop band worth listening to in the late 90s early 2000s. The amount of talent to come out of that band is just staggering. I think of them as the first hip hop supergroup doing for hip hop in the 90s what those rock supergroups did for rock music in the late 60s.

A definite yes from me.

Elliott Smith is in y'all.

Now the most epic nomination ever from Double X

The Beatles

Clockwise, from top left: Paul McCartney, bass, lead vocals, Ringo Starr, drums, few lead vocals, John Lennon, rhythm guitar, lead vocals, George Harrison, lead guitar, some lead vocals.

Nay-Sayers,

STOP! Before you vote against the Beatles please consider

That sounRAB like a good idea, but make sure to make it known that there should be no discussing of that artist in this forum until they are actually up for nomination.

There probably would have been no grunge, or some very different verswion of it! I particularly hear alot of Creedence in Pearl Jam, which figures why they sound pretty good doing a cover version of Fortunate Son...

Well it's an induction thread after this but after that i'll start being a bit stricter, if you haven't heard anything by them then i'll take that as you abstaining.

I think i'll also put a point of reference in with each nomination, the album to start with.

get what?

all the time a came across the name Frank Zappa I ignored it, but maybe I was wrong

heard some live footage from back in the 80's on youtube and well, why not? Though it didn't hit me immediatly, but it's proably a grower (?)

(have put an request on the most wanted list)

dac, there definitely have been great moments of the last 20 years. I'm just saying that, a lot of the music we've heard in the last two decades probably would not have happened without the music before it. :)

In the pop field, for instance, it just feels like it hasn't been as strong as it was, especially in terms of albums. We had Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince in the 80's. There are no three equivalents to those acts nowadays. Any one that could be compared to them, just aren't nearly as strong.

Justin Tiraberlake is doing pretty well and has strong moments, but he's no MJ; and there isn't a viable "replacement" for Madonna, in terms of overall talent and knack for music (the biggest female pop star of the last decade just doesn't cut it, for various reasons).

Pink Floyd is definitely in, btw, with the way the votes have gone.
