Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Damn, I've been meaning to get into this band for a while, but in the meantime the only song I know is "Rise", (which I do find fantastic). I'm not voting yet, Ima try to get some of their stuff before the poll closes though.

Aggghhh!!! You can never quarantine the past.

Well, if its any consolation I voted yes in the end. When I first joined one of the first threaRAB I saw was voting the Beatles in a hall of fame...so you can only imagine what I mustv'e assumed this forum was...another Beatles pandering music died after the 70's bore...thankfully I stuck around and realized that it wasnt.

And I would like as a reward for voting yes for the Beatles in the end, everyone to forget I voted no in the first place, so I can smugly make criticisms on the elitism of some of the merabers on the forum.:)

I suppose I should have expanded on the original statement, but as is when you're at work, I tend to rush.

I didn't mean to just leave it at "Hey they have skill, let's vote for them."
That would then encompass almost any band fit for nomination here.

I guess what I was trying to say was that they have a certain skill and appeal that surpasses what I'm normally used to, and therefore are fit to earn this. Again, I'm no fan, but I find my self listening to

Of course they deserve to get in. Still making interesting music even now and I would say that most people could find an album of theirs likeable even if they were not big fans.

Why? Doesnt it depend what you are listening to? Lyrics CAN be key to the overall quality of the music you are listening to but not exclusively.

I don't listen to much hair metal but if i was gonna put a hair metal band on i probably wouldnt even be paying any attention to the lyrics but i certainly wouldnt be using that criteria to judge them.

And what about instrumental music? If lyrics are important to ANY song or to any band then instrumental banRAB would all just fall flat on their arse, wouldnt they?

What about banRAB that dont write or sing in English, or a language you understand. I enjoy a fair bit of music where i literally have no idea what the lyrics are. They could be about anything.

I'm fairly sure we've had arguments over the inconsistent criteria in about 100 of the 190 pages in this thread. Looks like thats just the way it's gonna go down really. If we factor in things like impact, influence, success etc then it isnt OUR Hall of Fame anymore, which is exactly what it should be.

But whatever, it ain't gonna change now.
