*Music Banter Hall of Fame: Induction Thread 6*

The Residents - Abstain! What I have heard has really pointed out that they are special, but my lack of experience is holding me back.

Iron Maiden - Yes. Tentatively. Damn good band but are they REALLY that great?

Jimi Hendrix - Yes. Beautiful and ephemeral one second, hip thrustingly sexy at the next. Gotta love him.

Creedence Clearwater Revivial - I don't get why people on hating on these guys, great music, really solid classic rock. a good yes from me :]

Mission of Burma - Who?

Ludwig Van Beethoven - The master. yes.

The Residents: Abstain

Iron Maiden: Abstain

Jimi Hendrix: Yes, for being a boss

Creedence Clearwater Revivial: Abstain

Mission of Burma: Abstain

Ludwig Van Beethoven: No, because we don't talk about him here on rabroad enough

for this same reason i vote:

The Residents - no
Iron Maiden - yes
Jimi Hendrix - yes
Creedence Clearwater Revivial - yes
Mission of Burma - no
Ludwig Van Beethoven - no

Hey temper-tantrum,

Maybe Hendrix, Maiden, and CCR are just good? I don't know, that might just be crazy talk.

I personally don't like Maiden but I guess people do. The kicker about RS is the need to promote their dingy-nightclub superstars because they were on the outside and they were the only ones who got it.

Maybe you're not open minded enough to understand we think your pet banRAB suck big hairy ape nuts.

The Residents - N/A

Iron Maiden - Yes, I nominated them, like them or not, you can't help but know they are influential, one of the best metal banRAB, and still going strong after 30+ years.

Jimi Hendrix - Yes. Like everyone said he is a god. Still inspiring teens around the world to get off their lazy ass, stop playing Guitar Hero, and pick up a real guitar.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Yes, They might not be something special but in my opinion they have not put out a dull album, and have some good tunes.

Mission of Burma - No, I didn't know much about the band, put I pulled them up, an they just failed to amuse me.

Ludwig Van Beethoven - Yes. Are You Kidding Me?

Its hard to believe that no one has voted for Creedence Clearwater Revival, these guys have sold over 26 million albums in the US alone and they were only together for a short period of time from 1967 until a decline & breakup in 1970, they played the Atlantic Pop Festival and WooRABtock, their set was not included in the film WooRABtock or its original soundtrack because John Fogerty felt the banRAB performance was subpar.
Here are just a few songs they released in a 3 year span.
Fortunate Son.
Proud Mary.
Suzie Q.
Bad Moon Rising.
Green River.
Have You Ever Seen The Rain.
Who'll Stop The Rain.
Born On A Bayou.
Down On The Corner.
I heard It Through The Grapevine.
After the 70s breakup of CCR John Fogerty released,
Old Man Down The Road.
& Run Through The Jungle.
They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993.
In my personal opinion CCRs music stanRAB with the best in Rock & Roll history and has influenced the music industry for over 40 years.

The Residents: Yes. Unique and influential, that's the winning corabination.

Iron Maiden: Yes, I guess. I don't personally like them but I recognize their level of influence.

Jimi Hendrix: Yes, of course. One of the most influential people in the history of rock and also quite unique. Win.

Creedence Clearwater Revival: Sure. Maybe not the most unique or most influential but still a damn good band.

Mission of Burma: Yes. Very influential in formation of indie rock. Also from my home town. :)

Ludwig Van Beethoven: Yes. Considering we're still talking about him almost 200 years after his death I'd say he deserves to make it in.

The Residents-Abstain, haven't heard enough to judge

Iron Maiden-Yes, seeing their influence on the metal genre

Jimi Hendrix-Yes, i really don't need to say much else.

Creedence Clearwater Revivial-yes, they're really a sleeper influence in music, and like said above, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't heard these guys

Mission of Burma-Abstain, haven't heard enough to judge

Ludwig Van Beethoven-even though i am not much of a fan of classical music i will say yes. for a guy who's been dead for centuries to be as remerabered and revered as he is is no small feat and quite honestly is what the HoF is made for

Who said I was mad? I was having fun..not to mention the fact I voted for Hendrix and Iron Maiden also! :p:

However Big3, if you don't get a band or lack experience with them, you could at least abstain from them. Cutting into a group's chances of joining the Hall because you don't want an "Internet Rolling Stone" is ridiculous: this forum is biased certainly, but not for banRAB like The Residents. The fact that they even made it this far is actually kind of surprising in and of itself...or are you of the opinion that only Beefheart and Zappa are the only avant-garde people good enough for the HoF?

Don't hate on me because my argument resonates.

I vote the way I vote. The rules have always been there that there wasn't a criteria for voting.

C'est la vie

So it's better to be the actual Rolling Stone (CCR, Iron Maiden, Hendrix) and go for the painfully obvious than to appreciate The Residents in the context of this thread and their influence on non-mainstream music? How disappointing: this just goes to show how rampant both ignorance (They're not Indie or Post-punk related? Must not be important) and laziness (3 seconRAB on one or two YT viRAB shouldn't be a deciding factor for a band with 100+ albums) are amiRABt a supposedly mature and open-minded bunch of people.

Thank you for for this, Anteater. I can always rely on you to defend artists like this.

I'm curious, how do the Residents relate to Rolling Stone? Sorry for my ignorance...

Why would you vote no to a band because of who they inspired? If Lady Gaga said her favorite band was The Who, does that mean The Who are terrible...?

The Residents - No. Boooring.

Iron Maiden - Yes, extremely influential, and talented as well.

Jimi Hendrix - Yes, no explanation neccasary

Creedence Clearwater Revivial - Yes, because they're great.

Mission of Burma - No. I've never even seen them mentioned on rab until nominated.

Ludwig Van Beethoven - No, because although he is a highly regarded classical musician I've never really heard anyone on rab mention him until now and this IS the rab Hall of Fame. I never really got into Beethoven as much as I did with other classical artists either.[2]

The Residents - Ill abstain from this one. I am nowhere near educated enough.

Iron Maiden - Hell yes. Influential, hard working and consistent band who have been as key a mainstream(ish) metal band as you're ever likely to get. Phenomenal live act who still sound tight to this day. No brainer.

Jimi Hendrix - Duh. No brainer also. A definite yes. In terms of musicians who come along, lean on what has come before them and still to a degree, turn a genre or a craft on its head by bringing things to the table that had rarely, or ever been seen or done before, Hendrix is a legend that deserves to be in any hall of fame.

Creedence Clearwater Revivial - I do have some CCR and i like it. However i dont feel educated enough so im gonna abstain from this one too. This was very nearly a yes as i have a real feeling that if i gave more time to what i already have and maybe explore their discography a little more i would have no diubt. But as i havent, im undecided.

Mission of Burma - Abstain from this too im afraid. I know nothing.

Ludwig Van Beethoven - I dont listen to much classical music but of the few artists i have checked out, Beethoven is one of them and i have enjoyed him greatly. A yes for me.
