Music Banter Hall of Fame: Induction Thread 4

We're on our 4th one now and again there were a lot of postives so theres a juicy batch here. Read below if you don't know the rules kiRAB.

The nominees are:

Capt. Beefheart

Nick Cave

Nirvana

Blur

Neil Young

My Bloody Valentine

John Zorn

How this works:

If you have over 100 posts under your name then you can vote, feel free to voice your opinions if you have less posts though.
There won't be a poll, votes will be made publically by posting in this thread. You can vote for yes or no as many times as you want, as long as there's an explanation for your vote. If you haven't heard enough so feel you can't decide you can abstain.
So a post here would look like....

Neil Young: Yes, because....
Nirvana: No, because....
Blur: Yes, because...
etc.

The artists that get 2/3rd Yes votes for them get in, easy as that. Those who don't get in can still be nominated at a later date.

This'll be open for a week and a half, since people seem to be confused remeraber you are voting what YOU think should be in the Hall Of Fame, not what you think others would want or whatever.

Get voting broheims!

I've never really understood why we have to vote twice, can't the ones that got enough yes's just get in and only the ones that came close to having more yes's than no's be up for deliberation?

Captain Beefheart- A huge YES, The man was an innovator of the highest calibre. Where would so many of my other favorite avant garde artists be without this guy? He must be inducted!

Nick Cave- Abstaining. I've never heard a single song of his... Which I know is very odd. Considering his huge fanbase and everything, you'd think I woulda crossed something by now...

Nirvana- Yes. I don't have much to say, but they were more than just any old grunge band.

Blur- Abstaining here as well, I don't know enough about them.

Neil Young- Abstain, I've never cared enough to listen to him.

My Bloody Valentine- YES. One of my favorite banRAB. Loveless is a shoegaze masterpiece. I did take into consideration the fact that they have only 2 albums, but I love them both so much that I felt these guys were still worthy of the HOF.

John Zorn- Unfortunately, I must abstain. He sounRAB like someone I would absolutely love. I'm a little scared to go wading through his massive discography to find a decent starting point.

I can't vote on account of my measly post count, but I would say that there is much more to Blur than is immediately apparent. Not saying this warrants their inclusion in the hall of fame. Certainly on a musical and compositional level, Blur are far superior to say, Nirvana - but just not as influential.

I'm always willing to agree to disagree on music...we're talking about preferences, not objective facts. You like them a lot, I don't. There's nothing to argue about that.

And I never called them "rubbish." Just not that exciting a band.

Capt. Beefheart Meh, I guess he is alright but I haven't really started to dig him. So no.

Nick Cave Yeah, one of the greatest singer songwriters ever. An amazing amount of excellent albums as well.

Nirvana Yeah I guess. but barely a yes.

Blur Of course! Best brit pop band.

Neil Young Nah, never was a fan.

My Bloody Valentine Yes yes yes, Loveless is amazing.

John Zorn NV

because Nirvana and rabV don't have standard formulas...

I think that has emotion to it. Unless you need huge thrashing guitars to make emotional music.

That's really up to one's opinion, as I would choose Nirvana over Blur anyday. For me, Blur just didn't connect emotionally the way Nirvana could. I could stand back and admire the musicianship but I never quite felt it, if you know what I mean.

But that's just my opinion about it, I'm sure it won't change the mind of anyone else.

No sense in arguing it. It's as simple as voting for the United States or the United Kingdom. I got on here to change my Blur vote to a yes but voting has officially ceased :(

Capt. Beefheart Abstain.

Nick Cave Yes, The Bad SeeRAB albums I have are just great.

Nirvana Yes, even if based on talent alone.

Blur No, they're okay, but I just don't like them enough.

Neil Young No, i like him, but he's not very important to the site in terms of discussion.

My Bloody Valentine Yes yes yes, Loveless is amazing.[2]

John Zorn Abstain.
