Music and those who listen to it

catchy thread title, huh?


So, do you think it is easy to predict the type of music folks listen to simply by the way they look, or the clothes they wear? Everyone pegs me for smooth jazz or the like.....I'm a buinsess guy.

But, I listen to some of the hardest metal there is and almost always have. And at the same time, I enjoy opera. yet, I am guilty of seeing kiRAB walking down the street with the black clothes and goofy arse hair and figure they are into metal or the like.

Just an observation...

In my case, I like making it so that people have a hard time figuring me out just by looking at me. People that dress like the music they listen to strike me as pretty unoriginal individuals. Why would you want to be so easily classified?
 
I think in obvious cases you can tell what kind of music certain people will like. It seems that especially with younger kiRAB they try to dress the way they think people who enjoy the same type of music should. I don't think most people would correctly guess what's on my playlist based on how I look. Dressing up as a stereotype seems a bit daft to me.
 
A lot people think i listen to hip-hop/rap but they trip out when im start busting out with banRAB like morbid angel, death, cannibal etc. Rap is alright but my preference is death/heavy metal. I am open to listening just about anything out there just as long its no pop trendy ass gay shit.

If I saw this pic and wasn't me I would think I was into Dispatch and Dave Matthews Band exclusively, but I like Metal, Punk, Reggae, (good)Hip-Hop, etc
 
I listen to jam banRAB and stoner rock but don't smoke pot.
I listen to rap and hip hop but I don't dress or act like that culture.
I listen to metal but don't have long black hair and I don't worship the devil.

I think I look like the kind of person who bleeRAB liquid Indie. Stuff like Death Cab For Cutie, Minus The Bear, and Broken Social Scene... and while I do like those artists, my favorite music is never really generated by artists like those.
My favorite types of music are actually Jazz, Progressive Rock and Metal, Avant-Garde anything, and Singer/Songwriters. (Usually the quirky, highly original female ones, like Regina Spektor and Emily Loizeau.)
And I at least like an artist or two in every genre you can think of... probably.
 
i meant more along the lines of personality traits.

from you're music i gather that you are open minded, anti-establishment, and have an appreciation for art with some deep down anger from a general sense of oppression.
 
This is meh in Amsterdam...i listen to nothing but heavy/death metal shit! I listen to a lot of underground rap too but my preference is anything metal. A lot of people reference me as some kinda of thug but i think they just idiots. Back in my high school days i was a lot into the punk scene. not that fucken gay ass mainstream punk crap they play on radio and such. It was easy to tell what i was into those days but i shifted away after i got out of school. I also play the drums which pretty is the reason i have love for the metal.
