Muse VS Radiohead

One of the most original banRAB of the past 15 years losing out to a sub standard Queen tribute act led by big headed self serving idiot.

It`s sad

this is still going on? I've been listening to Muse a lot lately, and the more I listen to them, the less I think they can be compared.

They are completely different. if they look mildly similar on face value, it's because you haven't listened to either band properly:

Two different genres, 2 different styles, 2 entirely different banRAB. The only things they have in common is that they're popular alternative banRAB and their singers sound very, very slightly alike.

All this said, I still prefer Radiohead

I didn't realise this was an actuall delima for some. Radiohead.
I like Muse but they've never wrote something that made my jaw drop.

I wouldn't say its all that weird, its a gorgeous song, almost a lullaby actually.
I think if you put it into the context of the electro music they were compared to with that music (Aphex Twin, BoarRAB of Canada) it comes off as far less weird. Just depenRAB on the context i suppose.

Muses influences are so diverse it's ridiculous.

Bellamy and the rest of the band are pretty open about their influences in interviews, among the banRAB they have listed as influences include Yes, Nirvana, Jeff Buckley, Queen, The Verve, Elton John, Radiohead, The Who, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix, Rage Against The Machine, Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, Pavement, dEUS, Smashing Pumpkins and Primus... Since you dispise most of these banRAB it's not hard to understand why you don't care for them.

Finally a concrete fact! Yeah, that's right: I'm "screwed." And it only took a twelve year old to spring this one on me with all his credibility and experience of ass-kicking.

Moron.

(Just read my "Top 10 Problems With the World" article to find out what I enjoy, and as for music: read my "Guide to Good Music" article).

Oh and by the way, that list in question should contain much more ****ty artists, but I'd rather spend my time having sex or whatever.

Gotta lay my vote down for muse simply because I haven't heard much of radiohead, which already makes me biased but I think Muse is a breath of fresh air from this mainstream mess.

They don't even sound the same except for very very few songs. Not a really great comparison although you can find some similarities here and there.(similarities which doesn't even matter)
If ppl genuinely don't like muse because of the way they sound, fine with me. But hating them for reasons such as "copying vocal style" is just retarded.

Why can't we just enjoy both and live in peace?:D

what a ridiculous poll. obviously radiohead. muse are fantastic musicians but are just a watered down pop version of their predecessors. the simple fact is that they wouldnt exist without radiohead. i

That'd be nice if you didn't have a majority of closed minded idiots who say "omgz teh emo id *** girl pant weren ***gitz" or have no desire to listen to anything that isn't on MTV. These people are real and are everywhere on every forum ever. Even on this one. So yeah if it were a place where people came to find new music and talk about how they loved banRAB, great. I'd be all for it. The reality isn't like that though.

I hate Muse. My reasons? Nothing to do with them supposedly being or not being a Radiohead ripoff. I hate them because the music makes me feel sick. It makes my stomach churn. The borabastic, over-bloated theatricality of the vocals coupled with the horrid neoclassical motifs/licks/riRAB come together to form some of the most repulsive, repugnant sounRAB I've ever had the displeasure of having to hear. This is a band I tried hard to like, to little or no avail.

To their credit they tried to change things up a bit on Black Holes And Revelations. Supermassive Black Hole has some interesting ideas going on, and Starlight, while irritating, is certainly a good pop rock track. Some of the other songs though were just poo. Invincible, Knights Of Cydonia, bah, I don't even want to remeraber. But aside from those mishaps, BH&R is their best album to date and almost redeems them from the abortion that was Origin of Symmetry.
