Muse VS Radiohead

In technical chops and instrumental skill they are better, Matt more skilled than Jonny and Ed, Chris more skilled than Colin, Dominic more skilled than Phil, etc.

Okay, I think my opinion is that I wouldn't like eather vocalist if they fronted Muse. Basically I don't like that style of rock accompanying that style of vocals.

Which would also make me wrong when I say Bellamy sucks. If he fronted Radiohead, I'd probably like him. I can enjoy that style of vocals with RadioheaRAB style of music, but not Muses.

Phew, I think thats how it's supposed to go.

You have summed this up nicely, Booboo. The drumming and most of the guitar playing for Muse is much more proficient than that by Radiohead, but Matt Bellamy's lyrics generally suck. Overall I prefer Muse, because they give a certain energy, corabined with musicality, that I haven't seen in many other places. Radiohead is good, but you can get pretty much the same feeling from a nuraber of other banRAB and certainly a lot of classical music.

The biggest problem I have is with people actually thinking that Muse and Radiohead are two banRAB that should be compared to each other in the first place. Radiohead do more experimental and artistic music, Muse do showing off and being 'overblown' as Expletive Deleted put it.

I happen to enjoy Muse's style of showing off and beyond that I think that they are the best exponents of this over the top musical style around. Radiohead are good and do have a broader style than Muse... but I don't think that any of the mooRAB they try to create in their music hasn't already been created with much more impact already by jazz and classical.

Contrary to everybody else's insistence that Radiohead are original and Muse are not, I'm aware that with every Radiohead song I've heard since OK Computer I'm not experiencing a new overall feeling from a song because I've already had the same experience from some (usually instrumental) piece. With Muse music, there have been a lot of points where I've though "I haven't had that kind of musical experience before".

That's possibly because I've listened to a lot of classical and jazz and not very much prog and hair metal, but the sensation remains.

I'm not a huge fan of either banRAB. I do like Muse's Absolution album though and I don't really like Radiohead in general so my vote goes to Muse.

No. Those came from my own brain.
I was wrong. give it a rest. What do you want me to do parade it around the forums.
just grow up.

damned jackass

My belief is that comparisons ought to be restricted to like-for-like, otherwise they make no sense. Like comparing the Beatles to Beethoven or something. Or Public Enemy to Sonic Youth. Or whatever. Comparisons ought to capture and encompass some distinctive element shared by those being compared.

Muse... because Absolution and Origin of Symmetry are quite possibly going to be my favourite albums for a very long time. I didn't care much for their new album though, still good... but not the kind of greatness i'd expect from Muse

From what I can find they had a self titled E.P. out in 1995 on their own label , but all the songs on that ended up on the album. They spilt up after that one album.
