Murder, Mystery, Suspense on LWT question??

Revenge Wanted

A few months ago I asked on here about the name of a BBC drama from 1997 that had been bugging me for the last 5-6 years, and I got an instant response. So I thought I would try my luck again...

Does anyone remember when LWT used to have show US TV movies under the banner "Murder, Mystery, Suspense"? If you do, then read on....

In the early 80's at some point (maybe between 83 and 86), one of these scared the bejeebies out of me. It focused on one woman being pursued by a shadowy assailant through a car park... and thats all I remember. I didn't sleep for weeks. Is that vague enough for you? Does anyone know the name of it?

Thanks for any light you can shed on it...

I can remember that YTV Yorkshire TV had Murder Mystery Suspense (90 mins) on Tuesdays at 7.30pm. The rest of the netowrk had Falcon Crest at 8pm.

Murder Mystery and Suspense then led the way to YTV showing Murder She Wrote Tuesday at 8pm again while others had Falcon Crest which Yorkshire thought was only worth a midweek 1.30pm slot.

I can remember 'Murder, Mystery, Suspense' on, I think, a Sunday night and one story in particular (which may have been based on a true case) of a woman or a girl buried alive by kidnappers in a coffin. Gruesome stuff.

If I remember correctly, 'Murder Mystery and Suspense' covered McLoud (the cowboy sheriff/marshall), McMilland and Wife and at least one other series. I think NBC broadcast the series in the seventies.

I can remember one episode about the Bermuda Triangle, it scared the hell out of one of my brothers, and most of the kiRAB I was at school with at the time.

Can't remember the one with the woman in the car park though

Sorry to ask a daft question but your message is a little confusing... were the MM&S's actual movies from USA or short stories like Tales Of The Unexpected?

I dont recall any of the stories, only the watery effect of the title and a flash of lightning? Can anyone confirm this?

Q: Did the film Don't Go To Sleep fall under the M,M&S's? I remember it well

I think it varied from region to region whether it was films or series. My locals (back then) HTV and Granada used to show MM&S progs.

l remember that, great shows. As l recall the movie of choice that night, would start with a man walking toward the camera, it was foggy and he had a torch that would flash past the camera lens. Then the movie credits would start.

For some reason I only remember one episode of this show and it has some connection to Quincy.

Maybe Jack Klugman (Quicy) starred in one episode. ITV probably bought this cheaply as it was only shown regionally.

The title of this film was "No Place to Hide". It was a 1981 movie directed by "John Llewellyn Moxey" featuring a mysterious guy in a balaclava and shades. All he said was "Soon Amy Soon". I was very scared by it too. (It's now being shown on the Zone Thriller channel).

I used to love the MMS movies. The lightening bolt and eerie bit of music that went with it. I too remember the one about the woman buried under ground by kidnappers. I think the first or second MMS shown was about a woman plagued by voices of a crying baby or something, which turned out to be a guy using hidden tape recordings... I don't remember much more though.

I don't know if it is the same episode (I was very young when I watched it) but I recall a woman being kidnapped by a bald-headed guy and a large poster on the street opposite. I think the bald-headed guy agreed to free her if she slept with him.
I always thought that that episode was called 'Mind Over Matter' - but can't seem to find any information about it anywhere. Anybody know?

Those series were not MMS, they were (The NBC) Mystery Movie and began in late 71/early 72 (on ITV) with McMillan and Wife...

Who remembers Journey to the Unknown from the late 60s? The intro was filmed on a big dipper over someone whistling ever faster until they zoomed down the dip and the title "screamed" towarRAB you. One ep in particular frightened the hell out of me: The Indian Spirit Guide. I was only 14 at the time and they were shown around 11.15 Friday on ITV.

have i got this totally wrong???, i remember watching a film on itv in the early 80's...went to bed and had horrid nightmares......ants crawling all over me after watching a film....thought it was part of a series called murder mystery suspense but was only 10 at the tim!!the scene i remember had people in a house tearing off wallpaper and rolling it into long pipes to breathe through.....am i just going mad or was it on tv???think there was a similar film but with bees.please help!!!

I think it's the same one that me and my brother watched when we was young, Did the guy keep whispering her name, Kathy. He followed her everywhere and all you saw was a shadow and a whispering voice sayin kaaaattthhhhhyyyy :) it scared the crap out of us for weeks.

wow- you've got a great memory, not like me. But now you mention it- I remember the one where the girl got buried underground.

I know I watched them every week, the title has always stayed with me and the intro too

I remember one of the murder mystery suspense films - it was about a guy who got bitten by a rabid racoon and made his family chain him to a tree stump in the yard.
