"Muppet Babies" question

Was Skeeter (Scooter's twin sister on muppet babies) ever put into actual muppets continuity, or was she made up just for the cartoon? Also, did they ever have young versions of statler and waldorf (the two hecklers in the balcony) on the show or not? (considering they were one of the highlights of the muppet show it would have been nice to see at least a cameo)

I don't know why they had Kermit's nephew on the show? That was a dumb idea, when you do babyfication shows, the younger characters on the older versions (ala Pebbles and Bam Bam on the Flintstones kids, Scrappy Doo on Pup Named Scooby Doo) shouldn't appear. You want to do babyfications, you have to make sacrifises.

I agree with you that Robin should not have been in the series, but if you're going to be that technical, then Scooter shouldn't have been on the show either, since on The Muppet Show he was just a kid when the others were all adults. Realistically, when Kermit, Fozzie, Piggy and the others were babies, then Scooter shouldn't have even been a gleam in his daddy's eye. For that matter, the whole series didn't make sense, if we're to believe that the story of The Muppet Movie was how they all met, but...

....getting back to the subject: Skeeter was just an OC who was added to the show so Piggy wouldn't be the only girl Muppet Baby. Having witnessed NBC catch flack over having only one female Smurf (Sassette and Nanny Smurf wouldn't be added 'til later), they weren't about to let the show go on the air with just six boys and only 1 girl. Why they didn't just go with Janice or Miss Mousy or some other established female Muppet I have no idea.

Janice was also featured in the short-lived "Muppet Kids" childrens' storybooks, which depicted the Muppet characters as elementary school children.

True. Bean's character never made an impact on Muppet Babies. He was always just "there". Skeeter wasn't an "actual" Muppet, but she at least had a character to contribute. Skeeter also had the distinction of being the 2nd female in the gang, which is another reason why Bean wasn't a necessary addition: there were already 8 boys in the cast (counting Bunsen and Beaker). Muppet Babies needed another male character like Flava Flav needs another gold tooth.

Nope; Skeeter was completely made up specifically for Muppet Babies in order to add another female character to the show and to act as a balance to Piggy's feminine role. She appeared as a poser, or a photo-puppet, in a couple Muppet Babies picture book, but she was never made an actual Muppet as either an adult or a baby. The "official" explanation given for her absence by Michael Firth was that Skeeter became a famous explorer and disappeared during an expedition in the Amazon jungle.

Muppet Wiki has a good page on Skeeter's various forms over the years, including a brief cameo as an adult in a Muppets picture book.

Bean was only added to try to keep the Muppet Babies alive for more seasons, which apprently didn't work. I recall the show getting bounced around in it's final season, going from the start of the lineup all the way to tail end of the block at noon.
