I just saw this movie last night, after reading extremely mixed reviews I decided to go anyways as the subject seemed interesting to me and I'm a big Spielberg fan.

Oh my god it was so bad.
I have never seen so many cliches in one film.

The story was a bit of a mess and even the acting was very hammed up. People were laughing leaving the film, and it was way too long. I cannot believe this has been nominateed for an oscar and the wonderful Walk the Line missed out on a best picture nomination.
 
I thought it was a really good film - and there certainly wasn't anyone laughing as they left.

However, I've seen a few fantastic movies recently and Munich didn't leave as much as an impression on me as they did.

I loved Walk the Line but understand why it wasn't nominated for best picture/director, as though it was a good film it was the acting and the singing that made it fantastic. The Constant Gardener would be my choice for best picture/director over Munich and Spielberg.
 
I probably imagined this, but wasn't the 'drunk' Englishman positioned there to stop Eric Bana assassinating the guy in London?
 
The drunk was an American tourist... :rolleyes:

They even speculated about whether the Americans were working for the CIA
 
no the pseudo-drunk was an englishman who pretended he knew bana. unless he just had a horrendously bad american accent?

ok i admit, i can let that cliche off ;)

i think newkid is going a bit ott on the cliche thing though.
 
i saw it opening night, it was ok, tho i do think that Eric Bana did a really good job, and when he was on the phone and heard his kiRAB voice for the first time really hit me hard in the chest, not alot of films have done that, he was really good and has changed my mind of him as an actor.
 
I saw it last week and agreed with the earlier poster who said it was too long, silly me had no clue on the length just a basic idea of the story before I sat down at 11.30pm!!!!

All that being said, I did quite like the film, eventually finished it feeling a bit educated and quite entertained. I liked the bits that highlighted their paranoia after the retaliatory strikes began, not often you get to see that side of a character, so was quite pleased to see him go and sleep in the closet.

All in all good, Oscar worthy sure, but which Oscar, unknown at this stage, gonna watch Walk the Line tonight
